Computer question-- Maybe a network question? |
|
I brought my school laptop home for the summer (which was allowed). I was using it just fine until yesterday. All of a sudden, I could no longer log in. Is it possible that the tech-guy could block it remotely?
The entire log-in box was changed, so I'm guessing he did "something" to it so we can't use it from home. When I enter my password, it keeps going back to the log-in box. BTW, I hate him!!!
Thanks for taking the time to reply. femmocrat

2. Can you explain how the log-in box was changed? |
|
Is it the standard XP/2000 login screen? Also, do you receive a message when you attempt to login?

4. I don't know if it is a "standard" XP/2000 login screen, sorry! |
|
It says my name (in a box), then a space for the password. When I enter the password, it goes to the first screen (like a starry sky), then to the blue screen. Then instead of going to a homepage, it goes back to the login page. It just keeps on doing that over and over.
Before yesterday, it only had my name in the login box. Now it has "Administrator" first; then my name (with "Mobile").
It's an Apple laptop. Thank you, thank you!!!

3. Don't hate him too much you may need him! |

On XP computers a login loop problem is common http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=login+loop&cts=1278950643278&aq=f&aqi=g8g-m2&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=Not sure of a fool proof fix but it most likely has nothing to do with your network settings since you aren't even getting to the full operating system running.

I will check it out. I'm afraid to email the jerk to tell him I'm having problems. He probably knows I was using school property to go to DU!
