Alright...I know the people that write Commercials think we Americans are all dumb-asses, but...
..what I heard this morning goes even beyond "Dumbing Down" the message.

This ad was hailing the great benefits of this Skin moisturizer and the spokes-person says:

..."And now (product) hydrates your skin because it's made with Specially processed Pure Aqua Fluid"

"made with Specially processed Pure Aqua Fluid" ?????...Damn...that sounds like some real expensive shit!!!

:) :)

2. It's not ad creators. It's their clients.
For the most part, advertising creatives have to sell the shit the clients give them. They really care about their craft and want to do honest, smart advertising.

6. LOL
If you can't dazzle 'em with brilliance baffle 'em with BS.

I used to write ad copy back in the 90s when I woned a production facility. The idea a lot of the time was to make something sound a lot more exotic and sophisticated than it actually was. "Pure Aqua Fluid" as opposed to "water" lol

And you wanted it to roll out right at 30 seconds that you could edit down to 15. ;)

7. I am particularly fond of new deodorant commercial
The one for people who sweat too much. The antiperspirant is apparently 3 times stronger than it needs to be. Until she uses the product the excessive sweater walks around in a bubble so as not to offend anyone. It is quite a thing.

12. Never figured that out
But I have a story about it - sorta.

There used to be a Quarter Horse stallion named Retsun. He was bred to a mare named Cash's Candy. They named the foal Certs. Real horses, real names. I owned Certs for twenty years and hated her name. Everybody had to do the damned commercial "A little drop of retsyn in a candy and you get CERTS!"

Here is Certs when she was getting along in age - I think she was 22 and about ten months pregnant in this picture:

15. nice
I have been bitten by a horse, got on one and it laid down, been on an out of control surrey ride (rabbit scare) and at camp a kid was thrown off in front of me and I heard his leg snap. That was 5 minutes before I was to go riding. My sister owns 7 but I have never had guts to get on one.
cheers

21. With my list of injuries, I can no longer ride
Or even do much handling of my horses. I've decided that for me, owning horses is being in an abusive relationship - they beat me up and I just keep going back for more.

I'm still no afraid of the them, though they have done a lot of damage.

13. Yeah, Bush got almost half the votes cast in 2000.
Not quite half, but you know, close enough for Republican counting.

14. It's not that they think we all are, but they hold to the Duke's School of Business.
"Hain't we got all the fools in town on our side? And ain't that a big enough majority in any town?"

They get more sales by catering to the fools than the geniuses.
