Annual 'Mooning' Of Amtrak

"I hear the train a comin' It's rollin' round the bend"....
Down in Laguna Niguel, California, there is a 31 year tradition... Mooning of Amtrak. The story goes something like this; a bet was made in the now landmark bar Mugs Away Saloon, the looser, well, would have to moon Amtrak train. That was 31 years ago and the tradition is still alive and running. People come out from all over the world and country to attend this crazy California event!
While waiting for the train the crowd gets to enjoy music and live bands at the saloon. This time, Mugs Away decided it was perfect timing to have a charity event to help the handicapped and disabled.
The day rolls along and the thrill of revealing your bumm only builds. With the sound of the horn blowing; pants start falling, and people scream with excitement. This was my second year to cover, the uncovering of the mooners for Amtrak.
The train, depending on the conductor, would slow down only encouraging the crowds on.You could see people peering out of the windows of the train. Unfortunately the cabs were too dark to get any footage of that humorous sight. Cameras were rolling inside the train and out. If you have any inclining to experience being a exhibitionist, family style... well, this is the place to be! All ages are welcome!
The largest crowd they had was 2 years back, 8- 10 thousand people showed up baring more than bumms! Unfortunately there was a little too much exposed, over the top merriment, and he police needed to crack down.
Now the crowd is definitely more mellow. If not there is plenty of law enforcement waiting to haul your bumm away! I was there for a good portion of the day and I actually didn't see anything over the top!
There was an art to the very careful process of removing your pants or lifting up your dress. Half moon or full moon... only the Amtrak passengers really know the answer to that!
