My cousin died and left two cats. I live in central Oregon.
My cousin died with no will and I am having to administer his estate. I have an import business and travel 5 months out of the year. He left two cats, both female, both spayed, ages 6 & 8. I have to have a home for them by the end of the month or I will have to take them to the pound. I live in a very small community and cannot find anyone to care for them. Help!! I am willing to deliver them to anyone who would be kind enough to take them or even foster them.

If you know anyone who could use one or both, please email me. Here is my Craigs List post with pics of the kitties who need a home.

They are both small and short haired. Both are spayed. They are used to living with a disabled person so are wonderful about not getting under your feet even when you have their food bowl in your hands. Both are very loving and like petting and attention but they don't sit in your lap or want to be carried around. It's actually very nice because they are not high maintenance cats. My cousin could not carry them around or walk well so they were raised to be pretty independent (duh, they are cats). Good purrers and love to chase bugs!!!

I have tried all the rescue shelters in Salem, Portland, etc. They are all full. So many people are broke or have had to move out of their homes they are just overloaded with pets.

1. marking to check tomorrow
I have a co-worker who's parents are in Oregon. No idea where, but they just brought her cat to live with her in LA. I will ask if they are close and can take them.

2. kicking this...
I live across the country and have six of my own.

But please, please don't take them to the pound. Find a cat-sitter for when you travel, please. That will give them a bit more time while you find them a good home.

I actually placed one kitty with our cat-sitter ... my husband and I traveled extensively for a few years and cats really are fine if someone comes in every other day, especially since there are two of them to keep each other company.

4. We have friends who travel quite a bit and we just pop in while they're gone
and check in on their kitties. It can be done, especially if it's just temporary until homes can be found.

7. I live in a rural area and have tried to find someone but I will keep looking.
I talked to someone at Petco in The Dalles yesterday who is going to see if they can help me find someone to foster them. Unfortunately The Dalles is 35 miles. I'll keep at it for as long as it takes.

8. Thank you all so much. Maybe if we get the word out to enough people
someone will want these two sweet little creatures.

10. Try posting this in the Oregon and Washington forums
Washington State has several no-kill shelters. However, they may be mostly in the Seattle area.
Have you tried Vancouver, WA?
I assumed you have tried Portland, OR because that is not that far from the Dalles.

full but they are going to try to help me find someone to foster them. Thanks.
