Poll question: Are you bald/going bald? |
|
I have developed quite a nice widow's peak over the last five years.

6. Jack Nicholson has been balding for the last 25 years at least. |
|
Check him out in The Shining sometime and you'll see that his hair was already pretty thin even then (in 1980).
One of those individuals who has never lost all his hair on top.
A widow's peak essentially means that you have a hair "peninsula" which vaguely resembles the state of Florida for a hairline. Think Nixon from 1969 onwards.

7. At what point does thinning hair become balding? |
|
Don't most men have some thinning? Is the shrub balding? He won't ever be bald, but his hair has thinned out.

8. He's thinning, but no evidence of a bald spot. |
|
Gore, on the other hand, would be classified as balding because he has a visible bald spot (back of his head).
It's a tricky bit of language, really. :P

I've been keeping a close eye on it though. If I start going bald before I'm 25 I'll freak out!

5. Started going bald at age 20. That was 18 years ago. |
|
Today, my hairline suggests a reverse mohawk with a weight problem! :(

How can this be? I hear stories like that and it makes me obsess about my hair. I turn 20 in May and yes--I do worry about going bald already.

Who were bald as a cue ball before age 25. Unless the men in your family tree are prone to balding at an early age, I wouldn't worry about it.
On edit: The youngest I've ever seen a guy start losing his hair is 15.

13. My hairline started retreating |
|
About 4-5 years ago when I was 22/23. Thankfully, it's progress has been slow.
What makes me sick is that my dad is 54 and still has a full head of hair.
I take after my mom's side in that regard.

God made a few perfect heads and the rest he covered with hair.
The only time it bothered me was when the hair was so thin that what remained was always trying to get my attention by getting in my eyes - even from under a motor cycle helmet. I guess you'd have to have been there. In any case it will only affect your life if you let it. It's just not a big deal - especially to most women.

18. Started with a bald spot the size of a dime about 15 years ago. Now |
|
I have a dinner plate as a friend of mine once said. Now I'm losing it on the top too.
Never really got to me as I think there are more important things to worry about like the "plumbing" if you know what I mean.
