But I haven't seen it since it was in the theaters.
It's just too depressing, to me.
Beisdes, the author of the book, Ken Kesey was an asshole, who considered mental illness to be a myth.

The book is from the Cheif's POV, and he's very delusional - but the delusions are metaphors about society. It is probably safer to say that Keysey thought the wrong people were comitted.
