36 years ago today, I got the luckiest break of my life
Edited on Sun Jul-25-10 04:38 PM by DFW
I was playing guitar in a cabaret in what was then still West Berlin, Germany. One night, after my gig, I was chatting
to a girl from Münster, who told me she was going to China the next day, but I should really meet her girlfriend,
who was along with her that night. She leaned back and I gazed, for the first time, on a tall woman with an intelligent,
captivating face and a smile with more wattage than a Halogen lamp.

"Oh, yes," I thought to myself, I really should meet the girlfriend. That was July 25th, 1974. We were 22.

Now, 36 years later, we are still together, and nothing that has happened in my life before or since has ever
had greater impact, or given me greater strength.

3. YAY....I love it....
Sometimes at 22 you don't recognize. For you two it was mutual.

Congratulations

6. Only partially mutual in the beginning
She had never been to America yet, spoke little English, and thought it was nothing more than a nice summer fling.

I, on the other hand, knew from the first second that she was THE one, and didn't let go until she came around to
my point of view.

4. Happy Anniversary!
:toast: I hope you two are having a wonderful day (had one, if you're in Germany right now ...) and countless more to come! :hi:

5. I flew to Texas today
I talked to my wife on the phone, once from Amsterdam, where I changed planes, and again from Dallas
after I landed. We will meet up in Boston in 2 weeks for a long-awaited vacation.
