"Network" 35 Years and It Is Still Relevant
I watched Network tonight. This is an amazing movie. It's satire that is so far ahead of its time. It's still relevant today.

1. Is that the movie where people throw open their windows
and scream something into the streets?

and we're not going to take it anymore."

"This was the story of Howard Beal. The only known instance of a man killed because of low ratings."

Nominated for four Oscars.

4. I thought that was the line! I never can recall the movie name
when I remember the line. Thanks.

5. One of my favorites.
I used to be e-mail pals with Patricia Crane (Bob Crane's widow) and she once stated that Bob Crane was offered the Howard Beale role but turned it down because he found the script "unbelievable" and not right for his "image". We had been discussing movies and favorite films, directors, and such (this was around the time 'Auto Focus' was released, which she hated) when she divulged that bit of trivia. I took her word on it.

p.s. she was very liberal in her politics so we got along just dandy. She died in '07. RIP.

6. Not the least of "amazing" being La DUNAWAY11
I had to look in Wiki to check the spelling of either one "n" or two, and whether one of my favorite movies was BarFLY or BarFLIES (It's Barfly).

No mean feat for an actor to have a solid half-dozen or more really good pieces of work. Wiki says she blames Mommie Dearest for ruining her career. I don't see why it would: Besides its becoming a cult favorite, it's FUN for a scenery-chewing role in the mix of everything, why not.

But I like her better in Barfly than even in Bonnie and Clyde.

It's terrible to see people who did great things, and still can, be denigrated for age or whatever it is.

7. I think it was Rupert Murdoch's blueprint for FOX News.
