Wow, nothing at the movies really appeals to me right now
I was hoping to see a good movie while my wife & daughter are out of the country...

But, other than Inception, there is nothing that really strikes me as a "must see" movie. I saw Salt last week.

Dinner for Schmucks doesn't really appeal to me, and everything else seems like a kid's movie.

Am I missing something?

Aren't the more "adult" movies supposed to come out now? Is Inception worth seeing?

1. Me, either.
With this intense heat I thought it would be a great escape to go to a movie, but there isn't one thing that I find I want to see at all.

Like I've said before, I'm outside the demographic the studios are shooting for. Not too many interesting movies made to attract married women over the age of 50. ;)

3. Get acquainted with your inner child or inner rebellious teenager
And take them to the movies. That's what I do. There really is a geeky 12 year old boy in me who loves CGI movie magic. Your inner personalities don't have to be the same sex you are.

It's fun.

4. I would like to do that
and see UP but it's not playing anywhere here anymore and I couldn't find it in the Redbox at the grocery this morning.

5. I can usually do that
but the kids movies out are:

Cats & Dogs
Toy Story 3
Sorcerer's Apprentice
Despicable Me

I'd go with my daughter if she were around, but I think I might have to go to the red box & rent a movie or something.

7. Good time to fill in on some of the classics you might not have seen yet
All About Eve? African Queen? Au Hasard Balthatzar? Bicycle Thieves? Birth of a Nation? Chinatown? Dolce Vita? Double Indemnity? East of Eden? Easy Rider? Grapes of Wrath? High Noon? Ikiru? Marty? Nashville? Night at the Opera? North by Northwest/Psycho/Rear Window? Paths of Glory? The Searchers? Soy Cuba? Star is Born (Judy Garland one)? Sunset Boulevard? Tokyo Story? Vertigo? Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? Wild Strawberries? 2001? Tons more, those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

9. Can you deal with subtitles?
I just saw "The Girl who Played With Fire" which is the sequel to "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo". Great films based on great books (although you don't absolutely have to read the books before seeing them.) with a really fascinating female lead character. Nicely paced, and necessary to see before Hollywood remakes and ruins them!

10. If you do subtitles, The Girl Who Played WIth Fire is supposed to good.
Based on a trilogy of novels, set in Sweden. The movies are very good.

15. Watch some pre-code films
Baby Face, Red Headed Woman, Design for Living, see how interesting films prior to 1934 were.

17. Inception was much better than I thought it would be
I had gone in thinking it was some end-of-the-world apocalyptic type movie...
