I heard that some guy named "Nick Nack" whacked a Paddy...
Apparently, someone gave his dog a bone.

This happened in an Olive Garden.

2. That statement has an underlining of offensiveness.
It implies both control over 'the bone' and also a superior/subservient relationship.


I don't think friends would use that form of conversation. Do you give a friend something then make the claim that it is some special act you do? Or to make the claims of superiority and ownership of 'the bone'?

That intent is a different reason for giving, never much liked that comment.

I would say gifts are given for reasons of kindness and love, not for self gain, and in that, when receiving gifts you can return gifts of appreciation, even when not asked for.


If someone 'throws you a bone', they attach a string of thinking them superior and in control to that action.
