Food Poisoning. - A rant.- Plus a warning....it's kinda gross. |
|
went out to eat thursday night. two hours later, I was violently ill. I passed out. I was throwing up while passed out, and hubbie had to flip me over because I started choking. I had a seizure...doc said it was due to lack of oxygen. I cracked my head when that happened.
I spoke with restaurant owner. Understand that I have been in the restaurant business for 15 years. I know food poisoning when I have it. Asshole told me there was no possibility that I had FP...he claims that it can't occur until after 24 hours. Fucking idiot. FP can occur with in 30 minutes and up to two weeks. He claimed he couldn't possibly have any cross contamination in his kitchen because he doesn't have eggs or chicken. Fucking idiot. Has chicken on his fucking menu....and serves raw and cooked seafood, and those aren't the only items that can cause problems in a kitchen. His fillet mignon comes cryovac'd so it couldn't be bad. Fucking idiot. Just because its cvp doesn't mean it can't go bad.
All that I'm left with now, is a lump on my head, and a head ache....
I was so violently ill hubbie and I had to take showers after. I had to literally scrub my bathroom from floor to ceiling. I was blowing hot peppers out my fucking nose.
I don't want to sue. I just wanted him to acknowledge that this could happen in his restaurant. I wanted an apology. I got one, albeit a rude one...and I told him so.
If anyone here comes to Rockland, Maine....talk to me first so I can tell you which restaurant(s) not to visit.

3. he called just as I was looking up the number |

for Midcoast Public Health. All I wanted was him to acknowledge that it could happen in his kitchen, apologize, and be more diligent about these matters in his kitchen. Which he did...though rather rudely. He claimed he was being "business like" and I told him he didn't need to be rude to conduct business.
I've heard some other stories about his restaurant, and told him so. He's getting a bad reputation locally and this is his first season. He's from away, not a local. Seasonal restaurant, and plans on closing up for the winter at the end of october.

5. So because of a rude apology, somebody else will get sick. |
|
I really think you should make that call.

6. it's still in my mind to do so. |

just spoke to a good friend of mine who is also a manager at the same restaurant. She's told me they went through the whole kitchen, and are going to be more diligent about this.

10. I'm sorry you went through this... I've only had it once (to my knowledge)... |
|
. . . ...and I lived IN the bathroom for over two days -- slept on the floor in front of the toilet, managed to make it as far as the kitchen for a bucket as I had to decide which end I was going to aim at the bowl, couldn't even keep sips of water down, feverish -- awful, AWFUL experience. . . I was really worried about dehydration. I lived alone, so called a coupla friends and told them if they didn't hear from me every day... to break in the front door after knocking LOUDLY for a while. . . Only time in my life I can remember WISHING that I would just die. . . One thing I regret is not calling the Public Health Dept -- I KNEW where I had gotten it. If you trust your friend and KNOW that she's not just saving her job... good. If you think she's been coerced or is worried about her own financial situation... call immediately. Bad reputation for a summer place does NOT protect the summer people nor, obviously from YOUR troubles, the "knowledgeable" locals. . . Hope it's completely gone by now (though the memories can linger the rest of your life). . . .
