We're starting our weekend early this week. Thursday we're going here:
http://www.soniathouse.com/photo_gallery.aspWe stumbled onto this little gem of a hotel several years ago, and vowed that we'd stay there someday. So this is the right time. Rather than spend $100 for 2 nights via Priceline, as we typically do, we're shelling out over $500 this time, and it'll be great.
Why? Monday will be my wife's 50th birthday. We'll be celebrating from Thursday until Monday.
We BOTH deserve this. Last year, for my 50th birthday, all I wanted was to make love, catch a movie, and have a nice roast for dinner. When we returned from the movie, I received a call from my office (CPS) informing me that a client of mine had committed suicide. I had really loved this girl, and she killed herself because I took her kids. This started me on a spiral of depression that only got worse two months later when my wife was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. Yes, our lives suck now, and it all started on my 50th birthday -- so I really want this weekend to be a good one.
Back to the hotel: We're mostly going to chill, and stroll around the French Quarter with no specific plans. If it rains, we'll be stranded in an awesome hotel. It's going to be great.
