Mel Gibson and his mistress |

Edited on Tue Mar-30-04 06:59 AM by smartass
Seems as if our self righteous Christian hero is having yet another affair. Another Republican hypocrite exposed. I'm sure that Sean Hannity and Bill O'Leilly will be on the air soon defending their "friend" against these scurillous charges, lol. I love her quote, "Mel never mentioned god during our affair." http://www.nationalenquirer.com/neo/newsstand.cfmhttp://www.nationalenquirer.com/stories/feature.cfm?instanceid=61310

1. Do as I say............ |
|
not as I do. I wish this entire Mel thing would just go away. I've had more than enough of the passion, Mel and all the controversy surrounding it and him. He really opened himself up to this sort of sensationalist journalism by spouting off whenever possible about his views. There's something about glass houses and stones if I remember correctly.

4. Well, not to defend ol' Mel, but I read the actual article |
|
in the print version. This affair took place in 1988, not recently.
Doesn't make Mel any less of a turd, but it's a little misleading for the online version to imply that it was recent.
There have been rumors for years about Mel having affairs, all the while proclaiming himself to be a devout Catholic. What a guy...

5. I had already figured it out that it was likely years ago... |
|
First clue was, it's the Enquirer. Doh. Second clue, Mel was a heavy drinker...years ago.

6. Yeah I would say the drinking had a lot to do with his bad behavior. |
|
Maybe he truly has reformed, who knows. Sounds like he's replaced some addictions (drink, drugs, sex)with another (extreme fundamentalism). It happens quite often, I guess.

20. Well that's what Catholics do, you see.... |
|
They can't divorce, so they get it on the side. That's considered more acceptable.
A few examples?
* Henry VIII (until he switched) * Gary Cooper (refused to leave his wife for Patricia Neal because he was CATHOLIC) * Innumerable Kennedys
And before anyone startes throwing mud, I'm ex-Catholic, so I saw plenty of it when I was younger.

7. We've sunk to using teh National Enquirer as a source? |
|
Yeah, I know Tommy Lee Jones used them when he was working for Division 6 of immigration but still! Sheesh! next you'll be using Fox News.

I don't automatically discredit everything they report.

10. Actually, you're wrong. |
|
And I'm a little disgusted with myself for defending the merits of the various tabloids, but "BatBoy" is strictly confined to the Weekly World News, which makes no claim to being a legitimate news source.
That being said, how do we really know that BatBoy wasn't in the spider hole with Saddam?

15. Actually, the National Enquirer is pretty accurate |
|
their methods (they pay sources for stories) are generally considered unethical, but they check their facts and generally get them right. If you're interested in who's dating whom (I'm not), or who's been arrested for what (again I'm not) then the Enquirer is the best source anywhere.
