Really tired of co workers who will find any loophole to get out of work |
|
I will never understand their mentality. Ever. I'm 45 and have held down a job since I was 16. Whether it was tossing french fries 30 yrs ago or taking care of patients now, I have given it my all, no excuses.
They, however, thumb their collective noses at anyone who tries to encourage teamwork and spend most of their time at work looking for loopholes in scenarios so they can give a "reason" for not working.
And their creativity in doing that makes my head want to explode:
The newest trick: a medical assisstant on his cell phone (forbidden in a patient care area), hiding it in his hand as he held it to his ear. His fellow medical asst. starting making comments outloud to make it look like the two of THEM were having a conversation as opposed to it being HIM on a cell phone.
----------- My 20 yr old is an asst manager who oversees high school kids and recently expressed frustration "don't they know that this is how their work ethic starts?"
My response "those are the same ones who in 20 years you will be working with and you will wonder (like I do now) "how the hell does a 30 (or 40) year old have NO work ethic?"
Her out-of-the-blue "work ethic" comment made me feel proud of her...I hope she keeps that same discipline 20 years from now and is an employee who is recognized for it (as opposed to my situation where that work discipline is mocked)

1. I've had coworkers like that; if the two of you are working together, |
|
they seem to think it's ok for them to make/take phone calls, run errands, etc.....and just let you mind the store.

3. We all know people like this. And I am at a loss to understand |
|
how they keep their jobs. But I have learned that I cannot control their work. I have control over my work. So I just mind my own business and do my job to the best of my ability. And hope that there is karma.

4. This is exactly why my last few years before i became disabled |
|
I quit working with crews. There was always some jerkoff not pulling his weight and I got sick of earning money for them. So i took on cab and delivery jobs so the only person I had to worry about was MYSELF! Plus I like having me as a boss..lol

There are 2 areas in my workplace where we work solo instead of on a team and it is **wonderful**!!! When it gets to a point where there are way too many self-annointed chiefs and no willing Indians, I just wanna be the sole Indian and Chief.

The first thing that comes to mind is a lazy little RN on the Oncology ward when my mother in law was in the hospital before she passed away. She would disappear as soon as anything happened. All the other RNs would get in there and change beds, change diapers, clean up vomit, etc, but this one would say, "let me go find the NA," and we'd never see her agai, nor would she send someone to help. And she was RUDE, little miss know it all. It was ridiculous. Finally I marched down to the nurse's station and told them that my MIL was sitting in her own filth and if whatever her name was didn't care, then I needed to speak to someone who would. I was furious, and I said it loud and proud. My MIL deserved far better than that. They moved her to a hospice wing a couple of days later and I never saw that idiot RN again. I wish I would have spoken to the Nurse Admin about it, but there were so many other things going on it slipped my mind. All of the other RNs were so sweet and helpful, and the NAs were cheery and made her laugh every time they came in to clean up or just to make sure we didn't need anything. One rotten apple spoils the bunch, though and makes them all look bad. Duckie

7. I'm sorry what your MIL and your family went thru... |
|
The one thing that nurse and my bad apples have in common is they forget why we do what we do...it's all supposed to be about the PATIENT. And it is why the rest of us try to pick up the messes they leave behind, because we want to do right by those patients/families.
One of our bad apples (one of the passive agressive "say offensive things juusssttt loud enough for a good apple to hear, then get all defensive when asked about that comment") had the nerve to ask about my daughter who works in a movie theater---apparently there is some deal where a movie ticket stub can get you in to our State Fair for free tomorrow...so she asked if I had any ticket stubs that she and her family could use. Ummmmm..HELL NO!

6. They will expend more energy in evasion |
|
Than they would have spent on the task at hand. And dog forbid they actually learn something, because they see it as removing the "I don't know" option.:nuke: :nuke: :spank: :hurts: :wtf: :argh: .:nuke: :nuke: :spank: :hurts: :wtf: :argh:.:nuke: :nuke: :spank: :hurts: :wtf: :argh:.:nuke: :nuke: :spank: :hurts: :wtf: :argh:.:nuke: :nuke: :spank: :hurts: :wtf: :argh:
