In 1967 I fell madly in love, got married, and my beautiful daughter was born. My wife died 4 years later and I've cried for the days of '67 ever since.

It kind of puts things in perspective, doesn't it? A lot of the things I worry about day to day don't mean a damn, compared to what is really important.

Every week something groundbreaking if not classic was being released. I try to listen to my daughter's radio station, but the songs all sound the same and reek of unimaginitive posturing.
On Edit: And in the R&B department, I miss Marvin Gaye the most. Would have loved to see a concert.

that Ed Sullivan made the Stones change the lyrics to "Lets spend the DAY together" when they performed it on his show?

....the bowdlerized lyric was, "Let's spend some time together." :eyes:
Sullivan also wouldn't let Jim Morrison sing, "Girl, we couldn't get much higher." :eyes::eyes:

8. Ok... was that a compromise |
|
from originally wanting them to sing "lets spend the day together"?

11. But Jim sang it anyway. Quite emphatically. |

The Doors were never on Ed Sullivan again.

13. That was back when one radio station would play all genres |
|
The same station would play most of the songs on this list--and it would be a Top 40 AM station. There was no such thing as narrowcasting. You'd hear Hendrix, Wilson Pickett, the Byrds, Paul Revere & the Raiders, and Nancy Sinatra all on the same station. A lot of great songs, some not so great, but you could hear it all in one place. Those were the days!
Thanks, NightTrain, for reminding me of a few good ones I had forgotten about: "Boogaloo Down Broadway," "Expressway to Your Heart," and "Funky Broadway." Looks like a bit of a theme there. lol

14. Not a fan of Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band? |
|
Or are you just going with singles? Just surprised to see a top 100 list with only one Beatles song that I see.

Good album; there just wasn't any particular song on it that I liked well enough to include on my list.
Not to worry, though. The Fab Four is well represented on several of my other yearly Top 100s! :bounce:
