Question for the adults here...do you like Legos?
I was over at my sister's this afternoon, and while waiting for my BIL to pick up some stuff, her two kids and I played with their Legos.
(Mostly Harry Potter sets.)

I love Legos, I didn't have them as a kid.

I get the biggest kick also, when I play my Lego videogames.

1. They were talking on a business show last month about how great lego
was doing in the emerging markets. Seems like there are a whole host of newly emerging middle class people the world over who have young kids.

5. So...the entry of world middle-class is finding out how much it hurts to step on a Lego in the dark?

6. LOL! I remember that..it was always the last thing I did before going to bed
made sure the legos, as well as hotwheels and barbie shoes were put away, I hated to step on them in the dark :)

3. My kids had tons of Leggos (their dad & I never had any).
They're great until you step on them barefoot in the dark. :)

And he just went out and bought some more...for him. He's always had a huge collection ever since I've known him (41 years).

9. That's what we got my wife for her 47th birthday - all the new castle sets.
Her favorite sets were the old forestry men ones from 20 years or so ago. She about freaked out when she found out the castle sets were back so it was an obvious thing to get her.

10. Lego is one of the great toys of all time.

Inspired by Anker Stein building blocks, which I collect.

Frank Lloyd Wright played with them professionally, as have many other architects.

I get my Anchor Stones from Padilly: http://www.padilly.com/

15. They are very cool, but very expensive.
To build the edifice in my previous post takes $3,600 in building sets. I have sets 6 and 6A.

The stones are so precisely manufactured, and heavy that there is no need for adhesives or mortar. They are made with pigments and linseed oil, so they even smell like art.

The history of the toy is interesting as well.

20. Yeah, I went to the site and checked the prices
Legos are a decent alternative, but those are really elegant and so well designed.

It's not an easy purchase to justify. For me, it's like a fetish.

11. If they had been around when I was a kid
I'm sure I would have loved them. As it was, I made do with Erector sets and Lincoln Logs.

I just love a whole buncha plain ol' Lego blocks like when I was a kid. You know, the way they're supposed to be?

18. Lego has free software that makes it possible to play with the blocks digitally.
And if you design something that you're particularly proud of, you can order your own creation, in a printed box, complete with instructions. It can be expensive but it's neato.

19. I love legos and I give them to adult friends all the time.
Every one I've given them to, from children to 80+ years old, have played with them immediately. I look for the massive packages of legos rather than individual item sets.

24. A coworker of my husband is guardian of a developmentally disabled man who loves LEGOs.
She has taken him to LEGO Land many times. Ed had something like his seventieth birthday last year and she took him there. He particularly loves the barnyard with the farmer and animals, and the folks there built a LEGO likeness of him as the farmer as a special treat. He was over the moon! One of the nicest things I've ever heard of.
