...emerging...from...sports...coma...
I don't care about basketball or hockey. I just don't. The NBA is, generally, a joke, and my team and the division they're in (Celtics, Eastern Conference) are worse than a joke. Hockey...I watch the Stanley Cup, but beyond that, I've just never been a real fan. From the Super Bowl to Opening Day, I'm nowhere.

But ahhh...baseball is back. Yes, the MLB is worse than a joke, too, but no one said this all had to make sense. Football is just over the horizon, too.

:)

1. Hey now, hockey rules
Edited on Tue Mar-30-04 06:58 PM by Cush
but yes, basketball pretty much blows. And when you're local team is the Wizards (horrible name), why bother?

2. I *appreciate* hockey
The athletes involved are insanely talented and fit. It's like soccer on ice with sticks and brutal violence, and they playoffs for hockey are the most challenging in all of sport.

But...ehhh...just can't get jazzed about it.

Well, my team is the Caps and they blow this year (at least its almost over). Don't forget soccer has brutal violence as the well. At least in the crowds.

Soccer is hard to get into, but I played for a few years and was a Ref, so i enjoy it.

9. "The Bullets" was a better name.
Really. Come on, when you think of D.C., do you think of Wizards?

5. Take me out to the ball game
come on, altogether now.....

You know, I haven't been keeping up on baseball the past couple of years, however, the other day when I was at the grocery store I picked up some marvelous looking artichokes. My thought was that all I need to go with them was a warm day, an ice cold beer, and a Giants vs, Dodgers games.

Oh yes, it is going to be a good season.

Go Giants!

11. Baseball is our game...
I love sports...all of them...but there's nothing like baseball. The best sport to see in person bar none. :)

14. I'll agree with you there, VelmaD
I like sitting in the stadium better than watching it on the TV.

As for me, I feel the same way about the Olympics. Yes, I know about all the drug testing and the pros barely pretending to be amateurs, but still. There is something truely thrilling about the Olympics for me.

16. I can't think of a sport I don't like...
I love 'em all. From the "girly" sports like figure skating and gymnastics to the "manly" sports like football and hockey. I particularly love the obscure sports that you only ever get to see at the Olympics...like luge and biathalon and dressage and water polo.

12. C'mon man...March Madness?
NCAA Hockey Tournament? There is tons of good sport being played right now.

I will admit though that summer in Fenway is hard to beat.

13. March Madness is good. An appetizer, if you will
I don't like basketball, so I don't get all sweaty about the NCAA...but March Madness is pretty phat. I'm an Oklahoma fan this time around because of the four kids they inherited from the Baylor disaster. Imagine...last year a teammate gets gunned down and the coach tells everyone to lie...this year the title. Nice.
