Scarface-Greatest guys movie ever |
|
I loooove this move. To me, it's a love story. This is the greatest guys movie ever. Fave lines havta be "I kill communists for fun", "Say goodnight to the bad guy", and "Lesson 1: Never underestimate the other guy's greed". Great movie.

But when it went on sale on DVD, at least a dozen senior guys from my school left classes early that day to buy it. Jeez. It must be good!

Most all Clint Eastwood movies and Die Hard the original, Lethal Weapon. Scarface is very good but not at the top of my list. I actually like the recent movie Heat with Pacino more than Scarface.

But there's just something about the unrelenting brutality of Scarface. That, and the character development is so good.

23. The greatest guy movie ever is "The Right Stuff" |
|
It's got plane crashes, drinking, horses, astronauts, Good Guys and Commies and death-defying guy-type heroics throughout. Plus, Chuck Yeager plays a bartender and Sam Shepard plays Chuck Yeager. It's so good even my old buddy Marty the Marxist (MSchreader) likes it. John "Scarface" is pretty good, too. I'd heartily recommend them both.

One of the greatest underrated movies of all time. You got a road trip, college drunkenness, rivalry between two friends over a girl, Truman Sparks--how could it not be one of the greatest guy movies ever?

27. "Well, there goes the champagne..." |
|
"Truck tipped over in Fort Stockton -- broke every damned bottle." Like I said, setting up the wedding banquet is one of the finest vignettes I've ever seen in a film. And, oh yeah, Truman Sparks was one damned fine pilot. Take it from a fan of "The Right Stuff." John But Gordo Cooper, finally, was the greatest pilot anyone had ever seen.

31. Heat. Deniro and Pacino in their prime. Michael Mann directs. |
|
And though I'm gonna invite a wave o' flame with this anecdotal generalization, I find that its fan base is almost entirely male. My wife actually gets violently indignant when it comes on cable (she sat thru the movie in the theater with me and seemed to hold me personally responsible for the 11-minute shoot-out).
Scarface has become so iconic to all that gangsta rap bullshit culture that I can't really get into it anymore. Even before the hype, never thought it was a great movie (good, not great), just a pinnacle of 80's excess. Heat holds up much better, and was a tighter, better movie to begin with, imho.
Flame away.
