19. I spent the last three summers working on bat projects
Those ain't bats. The ones wrapped in blankies are, however, flying foxes.

As for keeping one as a pet, believe me, the bats would not be happy in captivity. They need to be able to get out and fly. Put up a few bat houses in the yard, and call them your "pets". It will be a win-win.

28. Another name for bats is "flying foxes". Those look like nonflying foxes to me.
Edited on Tue Dec-07-10 05:53 PM by Bucky
Maybe "baby bats" is what you're supposed to club them with.

8. You got cats already?
The bats and the cats could play together
After dark. Every night. You could listen to furniture being destroyed while they play "hide and seek"

15. People tell me I have some...
...in my belfry. I've looked all over the house, but I can't seem to find them (and I'm not sure which part the 'belfry' is, but I've looked everywhere, just in case). Apparently, bats are vewy vewy quiet, 'cause I haven't heard a peep out of them...

:)

21. Your house would be fruit free.
The bats in the second photo are fruit bats. You'd never be able to have a nice bowl of fruit sitting out, or a bunch of bananas. They'd swoop down and steal the apples right out of your pie.

But, I agree, they are awfully cute... :loveya: I agree with the suggestion about putting up bat houses. You'd still have them close by and be giving them a home... :)
