credit card due date late payment fee bullshit rant
you know, just make the date be the fucking date, don't say payment is due on the 17th and when I try to pay through any of your INSTANTANEOUS, NO HUMAN BEINGS INVOLVED, ELECTRONIC systems, try to con me by saying it takes two days and that to have the payment MADE THIS MORNING, show up as "on time" it's going to cost me another ten dollars and if I say fuck you to that I will get a late fee of 29 dollars. BULL SHIT. If you can make it be on time for $10 you can make it be on time for just the extravagant interest you are already getting.

quit trying to fuck me over for 10 fucking dollars.

1. I thought they stopped doing that
the worst one I had was Home Depot. I waited until the due date to pay it, and even though I can make the payment on the due date without any problems, their website was down.

So I called them to make my payment on the phone. They told me they could do the payment for me over the phone, but there would be a $9.99 fee to do so. I said no thanks, and the site was up a few hours later, so no harm no foul. But, what a racket! You can make your payment over the phone, but you have to pay to do it?????

7. Whenever the site is down, point that out and they will waive the phone fee.
I've never had them even challenge me on it. They want you to use the online payment system and if it is fucked up for some reason it isn't your fault. Stick to your guns on that one. It happens more often than I would expect and while I used to get all fired up before the call, I just calmly state that I want them to waive the fee because I had no other option and they always agree. If you do get some shit from someone, just ask to talk to their manager. That usually cures most problems.

3. Sometimes they'll remove late fees, especially if you've always paid on time before.

It's worth a call to ask about it, anyway.

6. Depends on the company and depends on how much $$$ you spend.
To get fees waived these days is a lot harder than it used to me. Used to be able to smile prettily and say "please" and you are more than likely to get credit.

Now you pretty much have to beg or have had a disaster on your hands to get anything, and/or hoping to get some human being with a warm, beating, feeling heart.

All the fees, charges, "penalty rates", processing delays - they are about half a millimeter short of breaking the laws re; mail fraud, extortion, usury and the like.

8. Good point - such a company needs its name in lights.
One of my credit card companies acted that way ten years ago when it may have been true that they needed the lead time but every since Check 21 they've credited the payment on the same day for weekday transactions, the same as my other credit card companies

Check 21 explained, for those who don't get the reference:

10. No, our current "administration"
granted credit card companies the ability to assess the late fee if their payment is not received exactly on the due date. No more grace period. So you know what the CC Companies are doing to fuck you over even more now? They are making it just that much harder to process you payment on-line or over the phone. I'm paying off the one I have and cutting that fucker in to oblivion.

11. I had one that cut my grace period because I paid it off every month
Payback for not making any money off of me. Instead of the standard three weeks, or whatever it is, I got two. So, I would receive my bills less than a week from their due date. Once, I got a $39 late fee for a $28 bill. That's when I cut that card up, sent it to them, and told them to close the account. Screw 'em. I went to paying online after that.

12. Totally feel your pain my friend
I am a type-A personality who ALWAYS plans ahead, schedules things out, keeps a sort of running mental checklist as to what needs to be done. And still every 18-24 months somehow one of my credit card payments may wind up a day late due to some error or mishap on my part. And they swoop down to IMMEDIATELY body-slam you with a hefty fine, leading to a lengthy tirade on my part about bloodsucking parasites who are just so ecstatic to prey upon the faults of others, who hover around endlessly hoping and praying we'll screw up and they can buy a nice lunch off our mistake, etc. etc.

Credit card companies are soulless bastards who, if it weren't for consumer laws, would rake every penny off us they could, for any reason, at any time (including "because I feel like it"), bleeding us dry and leaving behind a discarded corpse as they move onto "process" the next victim.

Fuckers.

Fuckers!

FUCKERS!

15. when i used to have a credit card . . .
I used to get mad at them for that and call them up and tell them to just have it be the SAME DATE EVERY MONTH, they kept switching it and told me they couldn't help it. I had two credit cards with them, actually, and then they said okay, they'd have the date always be the last day of the month for me on this one credit card. I told them to do the same with the other credit card and they said NO CAN DO!!!

Scammers.
