3. Well, what I remember is being pissed off (Kindergarten here in 68) - no extra black templates.
I ended up making designs on black construction paper with white crayon and using those.

4. I _loved_ my Lite Brite,
and I'm involved in an illustration project for which a Lite Brite would be very useful. Thanks for reminding me!

Maybe you could do that art project where you color with wax crayons in random, bright swaths on heavy paper, then paint over it with black tempera and scratch through to the the wax underneath. :D

6. Oh shit. I did hundreds of those (not kidding).
I also took apart my Radio Shack 30-in-1 project kit and soldered some of the components together to make a sound-effects generator. I actually got one that sounded like R2-D2 later on (with more components) and for SOME reason thought it would be a good idea to put the speakers behind my first date's head (8th grade) to impress her. She had not seen Star Wars. She was not impressed. Yes, I was a geek and pretty much still am.

9. I would have done hundreds of them,
but I was an art snob at quite a young age. :yoiks:

Do you know how to make a theremin from scratch? Because if you do, I'm gonna ask Call Me Wesley to look the other way while you and I become close, close friends.

11. No, but back when I used to smoke pot I was pretty sure I could play guitar without touching it.
Does that count?

14. Yeah, I was pretty sure you knew what a Theremin was.

I have a 74 Craviola. Not many people know what they are either - and you almost don't have to touch it to make beautiful music.

16. No better stringed instrument exists. Nylon 6-string. Bass is unmatched.
I've played at least a hundred different guitars, and while this isn't TECHNICALLY a "guitar", it plays the same way. There's nothing I've ever encountered that could touch it, especially in the bass resonance.

7. Polar equations in physical form. I just introduced my youngest of 3 daughters to the concept.
She quickly figured out how to get her TI-80 graphing calculator to display them and that lead to an entirely new discussion of the world of dimensions and things most people have no interest in unless it is involved in the production of french fries.

10. I had one of those. My dad had an HP (forget the model) - inverse Polish notation.
It had like 500 stored instructions (programmed) and ten registers. Pretty damn advanced for the time. I wrote a lunar lander program for it. Punch in a fuel use number, hit the "go" button, and see how badly you fucked up.

23. I would - if I hadn't short-circuited mine
 True story - and a short one too. I simply dropped one of the peg grid retaining clips into the lightbulb socket while the gizmo was still plugged in.

My mom probably has my second one stashed somewhere...
