Am I the only one who feels a little sad when |
|
the days start getting longer?
I guess I need to move father north!

1. I can't wait for the days to get longer! |
|
I have SAD and I count the days after the first day of winter, when we can add maybe 30 seconds a day to the daylight!

2. Actually, now you should move south |
|
Because the days are getting shorter in the southern hemisphere. And, while the number of hours of daylight above, say, the 45th parallel is low, the days lengthen with a rapidity quite gratifying to those of us who appreciate the luminary portion of the diurnal cycle.

I like when the days start getting longer. Mostly because I really dislike winter, though this winter here, isn't being very winter-like so far.
And I actually don't like the long-term implications of that. We need snow in the winter so we have water in the summer.

4. Nope, not the only one. |
|
I'm not huge into the cold, but I do like it when it gets dark early. For some reason, it reminds me of college in Wisconsin and going to frat parties. But then again, I also love rain and snow. I get depressed when there are several consecutive days of sun or if it goes too long without raining.

5. It's the same feeling I get |
|
at the end of January when I realize the chance of really cold and/or snowy weather is dwindling.

6. I am glad when the days get longer |
|
I get lethargic when there isn't much daylight. I live in Wisconsin and it is dark here before 5 p.m. I don't get out of work until after 5:30 p.m. I do go to work in daylight but am getting ready for work during that time.

Most of us are ecstatic when the days start getting lighter. And there is a scientific/medical condition, SAD (seasonal affective disorder), which makes note that most people getting more depressed as the days get shorter.

8. I always get a little bummed -- too many sunny days in a row and I start to get crabby. It feels |
|
like the opposite of SAD. There are times in the summer where I just want to take to my bed with a scarf over my eyes -- not because it's hot, but because the angry rays of the evil daystar are prying into my brain. I like this time of year.

Oh sorry, was about to launch into the "former drill sergeant makes a terrible therapist" thing...
;) Hope the seasons bring some peace and joy!

already had a big snowstorm, a week of gale winds and cold. I am counting the days until this winter is over.
