Pouring the Perfect Pint
Edited on Sat Jan-01-11 04:54 PM by Taverner
Happy New Year!

Well another shit year has come and gone. I remember in the 90's on new year it was like "Aw man, that was an awesome year!" Same things in the years I had the kids. But after this year, it was a tough one.

I lost my Grandma, My Favorite Aunt, My Samoyed. I also lost my job (but thankfully got a new one.) And we welcomed a new dog to the family.

Which brings me to the pint. There was one way in which I was lucky - in fact I was able to get the last 2 Lucky Bastard beers from BevMo yesterday. This was when nothing was on the shelves, it being NYE and all - and so, I grabbed them and stashed them in the fridge.

Today, after waking up late, but no worse for the wear, I relaxed, watched the rose parade with the kids, had breakfaast and coffee.

After lunch, I found my bottle I had stashed in the fridge, popped it, and then poured the perfect pint. To the top, no spillage, no obnoxious head yet enough carbonation to give it some hair.

Here's to a bright and pleasant tomorrow. L'Chaim, Salud, Nostrovia and Banzai.

4. Oh yeah, here in Cali we get a bit more access to our locals
Of course, you get all those DFH beers - we're finally getting them, but only the 90 min IPA and a few others. No 60 min IPA (which I like) or Burton Baton (which I would marry, if it were a woman)

7. One night the band was playing our favorite "nice" bar...
.
.
.
...and it was PACKED... 3 and more deep at the bar with only two bartenders.
.
.
I ordered a Guinness and the bartender had JUST tapped a new keg, so the pressure
sucked -- and kept blowing her efforts to pour a decent head all to hell.
.
.
Took her FOUR attempts and discards -- with college students damn near SCREAMING
at her for their Budweisers and their Miller Lites -- before she felt that she had done
a proper job of it and brought it down to me.
.
.
Tipped her a twenty -- most extravagant one-drink tip ever for me... and I wished
I coulda afforded more.
.
.
.
.
.
What's that?
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Well, DUH!!!!
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Of COURSE she was Irish.
