Can a patch plug work its way out of a tire? Last summer I had a tire |
|
(well, two, actually) patched because a nail had been in the tire.
Yesterday afternoon, I saw something on the tire, looked like an oily piece of rubber or plastic. I touched it with a kleenex in my hand and it seemed to be fixed to the tire.
I went to a tire place a few miles away and had them look at the tire. They didn't see the oily plug, or whatever it was. (Of course.)
The tire is still inflated right now, but I wonder about it.

1. plugs can come out (or go in) |
|
but patches likely will not
it is probably fine - you might have run over something gross like gum and it was just stuck on there and wore off on the way to the tire place.
those cans of foam work great in an emergency for smallish holes - carry one in your trunk (also get roadside service on your car insurance or AAA - just got my $75 back from getting two tires changed in the middle of nowhere last month!

4. I don't know anything about tire patches, but I'd say the general answer is that |
|
anything that can be put in a place can work its way out.
If it's still inflated and the tire people didn't see a problem, however, I wouldn't worry. Just make sure your spare is fully inflated...
