It's fun to see what other folks choose for home decor. Also like your black and white color scheme in the bedroom.

We are having our bathroom redone soon and I am looking for ideas.

17. it's actually kind of a pain in the ass :)
use a dremel and take your time...

Just hit the center of the grout line when removing the old crap. As you go take one of those soft scrub scrubbies (like you would use on your glass stovetop (same stove we bought :) )) clean up the inside edges of the tile. It will remove some of small pieces of grout as well.

Once dry and really clean, Lowes has a big selection of Keracolor grout to match the tile (use non-sanded of course)

31. So exciting! Congrats! Have you been waiting for this moment for a long time? We're just
now doing a driveway on our land and have picked out the house we want, but that's as far as we have gotten. Until I sell my parents' house we can't go any further. I just love, love, love the porch on yours, and your kitchen as well! We want to do similar dark cabinets against the same kind of sage green as in the model home below.

36. We can't see the water from our new land, but we can smell it. That's
almost as good. LOL

I think the worst part of this process is we have so many things we want in the house which is making it more expensive, like the solar hot water and a full basement with a drive-under garage. So we're sort of in that place where you go, "Do I want the not-quite-right house sooner, or do I wait until I can get everything I want?"

Is yours also a modular? You give me some hope, seeing I finally know _someone_ who achieved their long-awaited dream! :D

45. OMG, that looks nearly identical to our first home!
We bought it 90% finished from a builder w/money trouble and did the rest ourselves, saving a nice bundle of money. There was a full, walkout basement with a tuck-under garage that we finished off as well. We loved, loved the front porch! This home is still beautiful, sitting on the edge of the George Washington Nat'l Forest in Basye, VA (Shenandoah Valley). The layout was perfect for us at the time and we still miss that basement. I hope your family's home sells soon (we have our father's house on the market for over a year now, so we know that feeling).

since this is an older home in need of fixing up. (I'm talking plaster and lathe and all that other fun stuff.)

It's 1800 ft :wow: and it's not going to be nearly as nice looking as yours, i suspect, but we're just thrilled. After that's done we will be able to start the first part of our straw bale home :bounce: :bounce:

Congratulations on your new drive and best wishes for your future home!!!

eeeek! aren't you so excited?!! how cool, a completely brand new house. Don't get me wrong I love the old family place, but man I have been the first tennant in an apartment before and there is just something about a FRESH NEW PAD!

I LOVE the porch, the dark cabinets (even though I normally wouldn't but like you said the white appliances set them off perfectly), and your antiques - bed and dining table, I think - I can tell it's old wood but not positive of what the piece is.

CONGRATULATIONS! :bounce: :toast: :toast: :bounce: :yourock: :woohoo: :woohoo: :applause: :applause:
