I fell in love with the wolves. They are so beautiful. I also like the tigers (because I like cats). I remember hearing the roar of a tiger when I was a mile away....it reverberated right through my body. What is your favourite outdoor amusement?

1. Last year it became National Parks. It started with Yosemite, then
Sequoia and Kings Canyon. This year it's going to be back to Yosemite, then Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, and Zion National Park.
And later another visit to Yosemite. From there, I have no idea.
But I would like to get the Florida Keys in somehow. All on a motorcycle.

11. I also love National Parks, and you will just love Utah.
I just have to go back, the hoodoos are calling me. Southern Utah parks were my first, then I went to Yosemite/Sequoia/Kings Canyon the next year. Good call on enjoyable places.

2. I'm so with you
One of my favorite days ever was a visit to the San Diego Zoo - very few people there because it was damp and rainy, and then, right by the exit, there were all these metal boxes on long poles. Which were what? Lights? Speakers? No - there were noises coming from them (???).

Then an announcement came over the loudspeakers - the parrots were being released. It was their daily exercise - they were released to fly back to where they knew dinner was being served. There was a countdown, and then the boxes opened, and about 30 parrots, all brilliantly colored, flew out and headed back into the heart of the zoo.

just hopping in the vehicle and driving with no destination in mind. No time frame. No nothing planned.

9. Big hoop-de-doo in my small city which has gotten rid of its zoo in favor of an Eco Park.
I worked at the zoo many years ago and to tell the truth most small cities do not have the money to maintain a proper modern zoo where the animals are more than inmates.

10. Hubby and I like going to places to watch birds
Florida has the Great Florida Birding Trail which is a collection of various locations known for good bird watching. Some places are in national forests or parks, some are just road side stops, and a few are private locations. Each is listed in the guides with information about the best time of the year and the best days to watch for which kinds of birds.

Since they are scattered across the state, they can make good day trips, weekends or even longer vacations.

12. Toronto zoo is incredible. And that was a surprise to me.
I met a friend who was driving from the opposite direction, and we determined that Toronto was about halfway between us. All I could think was WTF will we do in Toronto. It was March, chilly but no crowds, and that is a first rate zoo. I didn't know that it was ranked up in the top 10 in the country.

13. I love botanical gardens.
We don't have a real botanical garden in Houston.

I've been to Shaw's Gardens in St. Louis, wihch are huge. It took me two days to go thru it and it blew my mind!!!
LOVED IT!

I think the nearest actual botanical garden is in Dallas.
