Speaking of 'Idiotic old sayings', what's this "don't kick a man when he's down" bullshit?

Seriously: assuming that I've made the decision
to KICK a man, what better time to do it?

If he's down, he's probably already in the middle of something
that's occupying his attention, and he's just about
as FOOT ADJACENT as he can possibly be!

Even if he were comatose in an ICU, that wouldn't be as good.
Those beds are almost 4 feet high, and at 42 years old,
I'm not really confident about that I could get my foot
that far off the ground anymore.
Not to mention the stainless-steel guardrails on those things.

Like I'm gonna kick a man when he's STANDING UP...
Who am I, Bruce Lee?
I don't think so.

Who the hell came up with that saying, anyway?
I'll bet it was just some jerk who was universally disliked
and suffered from very poor balance.

1. Depends on if you're following street rules or Queensberry rules

2. Actually, it's a misunderstood WWF rule. The full regulation is: "Don't kick a man when
he's down, because that's a good time to grab a conveniently placed heavy object and drop it on him."

3. It all depends on how far down he is.
For instance, if he's just fallen down a deep well, you'd be better off dropping an anvil on his head.

4. A true master finds balance when not in a balanced situation.
By not having anyone owe me, while still being due, by not striving for the debt that creates lack of balance, and continue to be the person I have always been.

By those things I can still move in balance in an unbalanced situation.
