Anybody here ever have problems with PayPal? |
|
So, now that DU's donations go through PayPal I have cause to use it. The last time I used it was about five years ago, and then sudddenly my account was locked, for reasons completely unknown to me. I didn't care for some time, but a few months ago decided it was a pain and called them up. Unfortunately I had time limitations and after about ten minutes of them asking me questions I couldn't possibly know (like, what credit card number did you open the accont with) I gave up.
Now here it is again. They want what address I was living at when I opened it, what credit card I opened it with, what my phone number was then, and a host of info. I know addresses and numbers, of course, but credit card? Who the hell knows; it's been years. I'l reiterate, NOTHING bad happened with any payment.
A check, I suppose, but it's a pain. Amazing how hard it is to give your hard earned money away.

1. do you still use a credit card? |
|
you don't need an account to donate to DU - I always bypass it even though I think I may have one - I can't remember what card it was or anything either and it's just another damn form to fill out on slow dial up. fuck 'em.

3. No, this was trying to use a credit card, not PayPal. |
|
But for some reason PayPal had to approve the credit card use.
Hmmm...maybe I'd better take this up with Admin.

8. I donated on Monday, using my credit card (NOT paypal) as I always do. |
|
But for some reason my donation had to go through paypal, and they charged me twice for the same donation. What a crock.
And I only got one set of hearts to give out.

2. I tried to pay for something with paypal and it kept booting me out. |
|
I tried three times and then thought..you know it may be charging me multiple times so I stopped. I never got what i ordered. When I contacted the company to ask if they got paid they said they tried to send the material to me but my address was wrong. I gave up. To **** with all of them and I'll never use paypal again.

last year. It began last February when I wanted to hand out a few hearts to DUers and make a small donation to DU using a credit card. A couple months later, I discovered well over a thousand bucks worth of fraudulant charges on that credit card---beginning with a few that were processed through a PayPal account that I don't have and ending up with purchases being made on two continents. I certainly don't need that kind of hassle again this year.
My star expired a few days ago and I won't be able to hand out any hearts this time. When I finally decide to make another donation, however, it'll be sent via the United States Postal Service. In other words: F*** PayPal and whatever it rode in on!

5. I think the donations go thru' paypal. May be bad news. |
|
Every time I ever used paypal, my credit card was falsely charged. I wouldn't ever again trust paypal. Also, I constantly get scam emails about them. I sure hope there is no problem this time with the du donation going thru' paypal. On previous occasions I did not donate to du as they didn't use credit cards, only paypal. Not acceptable to me. dc

6. I don't have a paypal account, but still was able to charge |
|
my credit card on the DU donation site. It did go through paypal, but I had no questions from them about a paypal account.
Just click to pay with a credit card and they will not have to access any paypal account. You do have to give your address, etc., but I think that is so the credit card company can verify that it is you. I have done this before for DU and not had a problem.

18. No, apparently they have to "approve" the credit card even if it's not through them. |
|
Card's fine, never had a bad PayPal debt, just suddenly was locked out. Sheesh.

9. I been contemplating an issue. |
|
If people in banking are not being held accountable for crimes, how would you know if they are routing some item like that properly?
The anarchy in the tops of many sectors, has removed the trust of many systems in society, by the concepts many groups follow.
Then again, maybe every transaction should route a fraction of a penny to some account I have.
And I am still due beer and travel money.

11. PayPal sucks donkey balls |
|
I haven't been able to use my account for 5 years, spent hours on the phone with them and no fix, even though they assured me it should be working.
I just buy something from the cafepress store since I refuse to deal with paypal anymore.

16. I got scammed through Paypal and they didn't give a shit |
|
Some scam artist purchased a service from me through Paypal, then after receiving the work turned around and canceled the charges, claiming fraud. This person was from a 3rd world country operating under the guise of a charitable organization, and continues to scam people.
I called Paypal about it and reported what had happened, and they didn't care. Fuckers sent me to collections, and I explained to the collections company that the money they were trying to collect was obtained fraudulently and they'd have to sue me to get the money. I told the asshole on the phone that "I'd love to explain what you're doing in open court to a judge". I haven't heard back from them, and the charge doesn't show on my credit report. But Paypal won't let reopen my account. Fuck 'em.

Have to send a check and figure out on my own why Pay"Pal" won't be my pay pal. Damned if I know; as i said, I don't know of any issues. Oh well; I'll get around to actually communicating with a person there eventually.
