Charlie Sheen On 'Today': Demands A Raise To $3 Million Per Episode

NEW YORK - Charlie Sheen says he wants a raise to come back to the CBS show "Two and a Half Men."

The troubled star appeared on dueling morning show interviews Monday to continue an attack on CBS and producers of his hit sitcom for shutting down the show because of his off-set behavior. Both ABC's "Good Morning America" and NBC's "Today" show featured him in their first half hours.

NBC interviewer Jeff Rossen appeared startled when Sheen said he wanted to be paid $3 million an episode to return to the show. He's reportedly paid $1.8 million an episode now, one of the highest-paid actors on television.

"You want a raise?" Rossen asked.

Replied Sheen: "Yeah, look what they put me through."

2. I would LOVE to have a conversation with him.
It wouldn't really be a conversation from my side; it would be an assessment. Imho there is something really strange going on, not just assholitry. He sounnds on the verge of psychosis.

6. Having just seen the interview I think it's worse than that.
Cocaine probably perpetuates his delusions and makes the mania even more so, but that kind of thinking comes from somewhere else. He reminds me of people like Jim Jones and other cult leaders who eventually go totally off the rails and do egregious harm. He thinks he's more than human and has nothing but disdain for mere mortals. Hard to know without real info about his life longterm but I think he's in real danger and so are those around him.

12. Good analysis.
Maybe he's been like this all along and is finally decompensating, helped along by whatever illicit drugs he's ingesting.

16. Charlie admits he's high
"I'm on a drug. It's called Charlie Sheen. It's not available. If you try it once, you will die. Your face will melt off and your children will weep over your exploded body."

"I'm not bipolar. I'm bi-winning. I win here and I win there.”

11. I think Sheen owns this issue.
The network fired him for his interview , not his drug or anything else. I believe Sheens lawyers can easily show the firing was related to the interview ...and that wasn't a 'firable' offense.

The networks lawyers are gonna have a very hard time showing Sheens 'antics' caused the show any harm , in fact the ratings probably went up.

Sheen is gonna win this round , and probably get his raise. Networks just don't toss millions in the trash like that and dump a goldmine to make a point.

He wants 3 million , thats not absurd compared to what these jokers get , Rosanne was at a million 15 years ago. Seinfeld was offered 5 million a show , the 'Friends' cast was all getting around a million a show.

Not taking sides , just looking at the facts instead of knee jerking the whole story into the stratosphere.

15. Might be. The legal issue and the mental health issue are two different things.
You can't fire someone for crazy if you can't show harm. If they give him the raise it's unconscionable collusion with the idea that he's okay. So far he hasn't harmed anyone else, though he's reported to have waved a knife around an ex girlfriend, I believe.

This is exactly what makes the whole issue of mental health issues and the law very sticky. People can see the train a-comin' but there's no provision to do anything about it until the wreck occurs. And it's not an easy issue becuase making those provisions allows for their abuse.

I just heard on the news that his publicist quit. He's digging himself a grave here, poor guy. Addiction is an awful thing, as is mania.

17. Aside from various forms of help, he needs some perspective.
I am on lifelong disability and live on $450/mo. With just one episode's worth of his current income, both I and my inheritors could live very comfortably for the remainder of our days.

Man, what a dick. There's a rumor the producers may continue the show without him or recast his part, and this just makes me hope that's exactly what they do.

20. I say continue without him.
Since Charlie (Harper) is a heavy drinker, send him off to rehab. Jake is almost grown, so the show title remains apt.

That show has an outstanding ensemble cast; I'd had to see it just end suddenly.
