Two Well-Loved Dogs are Missing
:(

This is Claire, a female yellow Lab

This is Diesel, a male Basset Hound

Four dogs belonging to my ex-sister in law, Traci, and her husband, Jeffery. Traci and I remain close for many years. The dogs got out by accident from their yard last Wednesday evening, March 30 at 7pm. 20 minutes later 3 shots were heard by Jeffery. Two dogs came back, but Claire and Diesel didn't. They're still missing for two nights now. I feel so sick because I babysat Claire while back and really loved her. Never met Diesel, but I know I would have loved him. They adopted Diesel from the shelter shortly after I left their home 3 years ago where I was staying to babysit their dogs and cats while they went to Las Vegas to get married.

Claire and Diesel were last seen in 16 Big Ridge W. area in Lumberton, Mississippii. It's a rural area near several ponds and lakes. Zipcode is 39455

Traci posted on facebook:

Diesel is a Basset hound mixed black light brown and Claire is Yellow Lab. Diesel has the white triangle at the neck and white tip tail as bassetts have, and Claire's front paws are some bulljointed. They got out accidentally Wednesday about 7 pm and after that 3 shots were sounded. 2 came back the neighbor's poodle and Honner. We have not seen Claire and Diesel since that night! I just got done scoping several wooded areas and am going to the neighbors now and will continue my investigation. Both had their collars and name tags with phone number. 601-794-2003

I really hope they will be found safe. Traci and Jeffrey are both grieving and want their kids home.

1. Sending dog-finding vibes!
I know how upset we are when our dog has slipped out when the gate blows open.
If it's safe to walk in the woods, maybe the other dogs, on leashes, would be able to help.

4. Are any of the ponds and lakes partially frozen over?
We are still pretty cold up here in Wisconsin and have had several dogs slip off the ice and have to be rescued. Usually its not a problem this late in the year.

6. Update:
Their daddy posted on facebook:

The dogs haven't returned. I questioned the guy I suspected, and I got the feeling he didn't do it. A lot of turkey hunters hunt where I heard the shots. It's not unusual for hunters to shoot dogs that are in the hunting area. This is what I now believed happened. We borrowed our neighbors 4 wheeler and searched yesterday. We'll go on foot to a different location this afternoon. Thank you everyone for your words of hope. A special thanks to Bryn. xo

I will post update here. Hoping that they will be found safe. Keep on sending them good vibes for them to return home.

16. Tonight it has been one week since they went missing
Now their owners want to hire a good dog tracker in Mississippi to locate their two missing dogs. Does anyone know? I did a search over the internet, but couldn't find one in Mississippi.
