2. For the record that's Kali jumping stadium jumps with her cow, not playing polo
But I'm muy impressed! She's got her cows well-in-hand (heh). Looks like that second cow is deciding to do a little gymnastics bar work....

3. that second pic was kind of close to home yesterday
caught one of the asshole neighbors' heifers and called for them to come get her - they passed the job off on some other costumed wannabes, who came out here with there $30K fancy aluminum camper trailer (only broke one light off on the brush, dammit) didn't have a clue how to back it up to a loading chute or how to handle the slightly pissed off animal so I had to get in the pen with her to load her - well the idiot didn't shut the trailer door after the heifer was in, so she came back out towards me in a bit of a hurry! I had to climb up the fence to get out of her way. You know my size and probable climbing abilities. So I'm kind of hanging there yelling at M to get behind her and make her go back to the trailer so I can run up and shut the door for the stupid idiots.

They were nicer than the assholes but god, I'm really starting to hate these clueless dipshits with more money than they need.

4. In Pennsylvania, my buddy Phil's dad made a deal with a smalltime Amish farmer...
.
.
.
... to let two of the farmer's heifers stay and graze "unmolested" on
their property. He sent me and Phil to go get them in a plain old pickup
truck.
.
We expected two adorable eensy-weensy baby calves... but got these (to
us, anyways) FUCKING BEHEMOTHS to deal with.
.
Some of the Amish men I met had GREAT senses of humor and laughed A LOT.
.
Like this guy ('cept he's the only man I believe I've ever heard CACKLE).
.
He kept his distance and was holding his sides watching us try to maneuver
these heifers into the back of the truck (the approaching storm was freaking
them out even more).
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
So began... and ended... my VERY laughable and pathetic career as a cowpoke.

5. I have a cow-jumping story myself
Edited on Sun Apr-03-11 03:34 PM by kimi
Well, really bull-jumping. Went with family to pick up the new 1400-lb Angus bull at a nearby farm. The trailer was backed up to the barn, with those moveable, 4-foot rail fence panels alongside to guide the bull into the trailer. Well, he wasn't so sure he wanted to do that, and was a bit excitable, so it was taking the guy selling him and my uncle a little time to convince him to come on out and git on in. My aunt and I were standing outside one of the panels, and we'd just decided to get out of the sun and walked away about 15 feet, when BOOM CRASH BELLOW! - turned around to find Buddy the Bull making his way OVER that panel we'd just moved away from. That 2nd pic is pretty much how he looked, too, except he actually did make it over.

6. Seen some cows doing jumps before
I was helping a friend check the fences on his family's ranch. We were on a single ATV (we had been on an ATV and Motorcycle but the cycle keeled over halfway through the ride) In the last pasture were a bunch of cattle belonging to a leaser. They were used to being fed by truck and thus associated any motor to food. They began to chase us as we hit the gas through the woods, cacti, rocks and dense clumps of grass. The faster we went the faster they ran. I was on the back and got to see several cows leaping over the large cactus patches. One was almost close enough to touch. We managed to get to the gate before they did. They would have probably licked us to death.
