Dog owners, here's your public service announcement for the day:

When someone's dog has jumped out of their open car window (and into a busy parking lot) for the third time, forcing the owner to go put it back into the car for the third time...

...it is reasonable for bystanders to politely suggest that the dog owner roll the windows up if a: it's under 80 degrees, b: completely overcast, and c: the owner is stepping into Starbucks just long enough to get a cup of coffee. The dog will not overheat in those circumstances, and it will no longer be at risk of being run over.

There are two appropriate responses in that situation:

1: "Good idea, thanks."

2. "I don't believe that's any of your business."

There is also an inappropriate response, which is what I received from an asshole with a shaved head and a case of testosterone poisoning: "You better fucking mind your own fucking business or I'll fucking slap the shit out of you." (And that's the condensed version.)

Sheesh. :eyes:

(I'm angry, but I'm also somewhat amused, because I've got a sociopathic streak about a mile wide. He essentially offered me a chance to do something unpleasant to him and then legitimately claim self-defense. Unfortunately, I don't have a knack for thinking fast, and by the time I finished going :wtf: and recognized the opportunity, he'd driven away.)

1. What an ass.
Some people shouldn't be allowed to have dogs.

You actually reminded me -- the guy had been putting the dog back each time it jumped out. I was (initially) giving him credit for not wanting to leave his dog in the car with the windows rolled up, and just trying to point out that the dog's health wouldn't be at risk if he rolled the windows up, given these particular circumstances.

...quite as nasty.

I had walked a little bit from my car so she couldn't get my tag or anything..

Anyway, when she walked into Sears, I put a note on her windshield and walked "round-a-bout" to my car.

The note said: "I screwed your car up because you were so nasty..have a nice day"

(I didn't touch her car)...but she didn't know that. :) :)
