and the stepdaughter of Elizabeth Taylor and Connie Stevens. She was also married to Paul Simon (the singer, not the Illinois senator) at one point. That's fairly royal, I guess.

Amy Irving reportedly auditioned for the role of Princess Leia and ended up getting the role of Sue Snell in Carrie. Melanie Griffith was offered the role of Princess Leia. Jodie Foster was Lucas' second choice.
