1. I just figured it was because she had a nice ass.

Of course, I was in Jr. High school when the movie came out, so what ELSE would I be thinking?

3. Well I'm almost 48 now, but I still think she has a nice ass.
That might have something to do with being a guy. Ya think?

"I slept with some nerd. I hope it was George. I took too many drugs to remember."
In a Vanity Fair interview when asked how she got the part in Star Wars

7. I always figured her parents pulled some strings.
Edited on Tue Apr-05-11 11:44 AM by white_wolf
Isn't she the daughter of two really big stars, or people who used to be big? I always thought she was some sort of Hollywood royalty. What I really want to know, is why give Mark Hamill the lead role?

12. She's the daughter of Eddie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds
and the stepdaughter of Elizabeth Taylor and Connie Stevens. She was also married to Paul Simon (the singer, not the Illinois senator) at one point. That's fairly royal, I guess.

13. Her mom was Debbie Reynolds (actress), her father Eddie Fisher (singer).

IMO, Daddy could sing a heck of a lot better than Carrie could act.

Go to youtube and listen to him sing "Anytime" if you feel like it.

Mark Hamill--that's a good question. Maybe he slept with George too?

How is 1 good? I mean really, Jar-jar and "Annie?" Though Darth Maul was badass.

30. Yeah Jar Jar sucked but Neeson and McGregor were good.
And Lucas is a great visualist even though he can't write dialogue to save his life.

27. There's no underwear in space?
Edited on Tue Apr-05-11 11:14 PM by pokerfan
Interesting to read about all who auditioned: Eve Plumb, P. J. Soles, Cindy Williams, Karen Allen. Teri Nunn, the lead singer of the 80s pop group "Berlin" did a screen test. Amy Irving reportedly auditioned for the role of Princess Leia and ended up getting the role of Sue Snell in Carrie. Melanie Griffith was offered the role of Princess Leia. Jodie Foster was Lucas' second choice.

ETA: Farrah Fawcett, Glenn Close, Barbara Hershey, Bernadette Peters, Bonnie Bedelia, Dianne Wiest, Margot Kidder, Jessica Lange, Meryl Streep, Sigourney Weaver, Cybill Shepherd, Christine Lahti Jane Seymour, Anjelica Huston, Catherine Hicks, Christine Baranski, Kay Lenz, Kim Basinger, Kathleen Turner, Debra Winger, and Geena Davis all auditioned for the role of Princess Leia.
