Old but stunning video: Tiger vs Python

This looks to be from the 1930s. Film crew watches in horrified fascination as python and tiger fight it out.

5. how did it happen? Was the tiger hunting the python, or did

the python sneak up on the tiger and catch it unawares? And do we know if the tiger ate the python after the battle?

Damn. I'd have been heartbroken if the tiger lost though I know it's all just the food chain. I like snakes, generally, but pythons - all that squeezing - scare me. They have a perfect right to do what they do to survive, though.

6. It looked to me like the snake was waiting in the bushes for prey,

and the tiger sort of stumbled into it. This was really quite remarkable footage for the time. Not all that many wildlife film crews around then, and the equipment was clumsy. The tiger did not eat the snake, and seemed to be quite shaken up, poor thing. :(

I think I read that his crew located the snake which was torpid from having eaten and then groomed then cleared the area around it and set up cameras. It was near one of the only watering holes in the area, almost assuring that a tiger would eventually show up there.

13. I think if it were hungry/looking for food

the snake might have moved a bit quicker - especially when trying to coil around the tiger.
