My kid's puppy has allergies

At least that's what the vet said today. His ears were crusty and no amount of cleaning, olive oil, or lotion would clear them up. Now the puppy is on medicated lotion for the next month and he's not happy.

Should be a fun time in my house.

I would guess the majority of pet skin/ear/eye allergies are caused by diet. shitty corn-based food is the main culprit.

I had a little Benji-type doggie that had skin allergies that went away after I changed his food.

Food is sometimes a culprit and very often difficult to figure out which one. Wheat is the most common food allergen for dogs though soy is pretty high on the list, however, just like people, a dog can be allergic to any kind of food. Any shitty dog foods that contain fillers such as corn should be avoided... not so much because of allergies though... shitty dog food is just a bad idea all the way around.

Weird how all kinds of health issues show up as a skin problem in dogs even if it's just one of the symptoms. I guess it's a good thing though because it makes it obvious that something is wrong and needs attention.

2. My pup has a combination thing going on

The worst of it is definitely food allergies. She gets the special, no grain food now, which has cleared up the ear issues and much of the runny nose. She also gets a bit of a skin rash after I apply her flea and tick medicine each month (it's a topical, like Frontline). Claritin helps with both, but the food change was still necessary.

Start out with no grain food or go to Wellness' 2-ingredient foods to try to find out what it is (or if you have the $$, go for a skin test).
