Could I get some of those Lounge vibes? My dog is very sick. (Dial-up warning for pictures)

My mom texted me this morning to tell me to call her as soon as possible. When I did, she told me that the family dog, Jake, is very ill. He's been slowing down over the past year, not going as far on walks, taking his time to get up and move around, and generally just seeming like an older dog. Well, apparently the other day my sister was home and saw Jake have a seizure, so my mom got him into the vet's right away. He has fluid on the heart and some sort of unknown mass somewhere near his intestines - possibly a tumor of some sort. My mom says he's barely been moving the last day, hasn't been eating, and is just generally just very sick and tired.

My poor doggie. :( We adopted him in 2002 when he was around 1 1/2 years old, so he's about 10 years old right now (give or take a few months). Jake is a mutt, mostly Border Collie with some larger dog mixed in - probably Great Pyrenees - and he is the sweetest damn dog I've ever met. Beautiful brown eyes, very friendly toward everyone, and his tail is almost always wagging.

I don't want to lost my poor dog, but I don't want him to suffer anymore, either. Tomorrow morning, since I have the day odd, I'm heading down to Boulder to pay what is likely my last visit to Jake. Any vibes you can spare for him would be appreciated.

I feel your pain. I had to put down my wonderful Rottweiler last July. She had bone and liver cancer and was in so much pain that not even the meds were helping any more. She was just 2 weeks short of her 13th birthday. Losing a beloved pet is just as heartbreaking as losing a child.

Work today was awful, as all I could do was think about Jake and worry. He did okay today, spent most of the day sleeping, got up to greet my mom when she got home, and he ate some food. But he also fell down a couple times when he went outside and had trouble getting up. :( I talked to my mom a couple hours ago and she said he was resting, but that he was taking quick, shallow breaths.

The next couple days are going to be rough. Tomorrow we're more than likely make the decision to let Jake cross the rainbow bridge, so at least he won't be in pain anymore. I'm just going to miss that dog so damn much. :cry:

24. What a beautiful and sweet creature

Lost my boy last year. Boxer rescued from a tow truck garage at age 1 with a broken leg, skin burns, worms, wire around his neck, etc. Some idiots thought they were going to make a guard dog out of him but they nearly killed one of the world's sweetest and gentlest creatures. It was my pleasure to give him the home and the life he was meant to have for the rest of his life.
