So...the nice UPS man brings my bass guitar to my door today. |
|
AND...the writing on the box says I shouldn't open it for 48 hours so the change in temperature doesn't crack the finish!
ARRRGGGH!!
I shoulda just bought it when I saw it, instead of shipping it. ARRRGGH!

that it's a Ric, which I'm guessing is making the wait that much harder. ;)
(I have a Fireglo Ric 360/6 and it's my favorite guitar.)
Edited to add: this is going to sound weird, but wait until you experience the "Rick-O-Smell" when you open the case. Seriously! It smells a bit like vanilla--at least mine did, anyway.

I took the case out of the box, but then I chickened out and haven't opened it. It's torture. It's like Schrodinger's cat.
ETA: Those fireglos are lovely.
ETA2: I've heard about the Rick-O-Smell! I can't wait!

3. Damn, that's brutal. If I was a UPS guy, I'd write that on boxes, just to screw with people |
|
Of course, if you put it in the freezer for a while, it will acclimate faster. Or the oven, I can't remember...
Congrats on the new bass!

Was it shipped from the seventh circle of hell?
That is bullshit.
Your slab has been in a UPS truck for at least 8 hours.
Open it up, and let rip.

Unless you ordered a Stradivarius, it won't make a difference.

But, that's why basses have adjustable truss rods.
A Rick's finish isn't a delicate flower.
Rip into it like you're five years old and it's Christmas.

Big Reveal.
I did what one is supposed to do on the Internet: I googled what I should do and found all sorts of horror stories of finishes cracking or popping or spiderwebbing. It's as bad as googling a run-of-the-mill symptom and coming up with Morgellons.

grab the thing by the neck, and smash the first Halibut she sees.
She's badass, and will make a fine president some day.
