Just took a practice GRE test. I need more practice.
This was the Kaplan on-line practice test. 630 verbal and a miserable 480 quantitative.

1. I took the GRE for fun back in the day.
No interest in grad school. I just love standardized tests.

3. I took it back in the days of paper booklets, when I could temporarily skip a question,
think about it, then go back and answer

I don't think the electronic version would let me do that anymore

8. Same thing with me and our state boards for nursing
I took it back in the late 80's when it was pencil/paper/booklet and was a TWO day test. Had to book a hotel room near the convention center where it was being held.

Nowadays, new nursing grads go to a testing center and take it on a computer. They can't go back to a question, if they skip one, it's gone forever. And the program is built to where the computer shuts off after x amount of questions automatically whether you pass or fail. So you are left sitting there wondering if you will have a license soon or if you are fucked and have to take the horrible test again in the near future.

I think that I would have a nervous breakdown with today's way of testing. Was bad enough that I got physically ill over the old fashioned 2 day testing and came down with a sinus infection and a urinary tract infection that both kicked in at the end of the first day of testing..didn't make for a productive night of studying in the hotel room for that second day of testing. Then there were the groups of people I ran into who "compared" answers from the first day which leaves one full of doubt about the answers you picked/erased/changed.

4. Just went and took the same one.
My result:

Almost perfect verbal, but not very good at the math part. I haven't taken any college math yet, so hopefully that will go up after I do.

7. Nah. You just aren't an English major.
It's not shocking that I nearly aced the verbal considering my field of study. If you want to study the math part together and let me help tutor you for the verbal part, I'd be glad to volunteer. We can help each other. I have to take this test sometime in the next year, too, after all.

:hi:

5. Don't be so hard on yourself.
After all, you spelled "GRE" correctly.
