1. Major improvement - turn off the fucking TV.
That makes it a LOT less irritating.

3. seriously? that the commercials aren't louder than the damn show you are watching
nothing makes me hit the mute button faster. and I ask you - is that what the advertisers really want - for us to mute their damn commercials? dumb asses.

4. So true, but mainly that's yelling rather than volume level
Mr. Reagan and Mr. Hitler (a co-incidence, not a comparison) both knew that people listen closer if you lower rather than raise your voice. Of course Mr. Hitler did a lot of yelling, too. But true-- very.

8. I solved that problem by running the T.V. sound through my surround sound system
Seems that the corporate bastards can't regulate that. I noticed this turning the sound up shit a little in San Jose but when we moved to Tucson it was just unbelievable! I mean, you could just hear the dialog and then a commercial would come on and the windows would rattle. Of course, our corporate whore politicians fixed that by making it against the law NEXT YEAR! Ran the T.V.sound through the surround sound system and have not looked back. Of course, you have to fuck with yet another remote but it"s worth it.

5. Never watch anything live.
Record everything.

Play it back at your convenience.

Fast forward through commercials, fundraisers, etc.

6. Yes, DVRs kick ass.
Of course, those little advertising images they show at the bottom of the screen during the program are annoying. They are just advertising for upcoming shows, but as more and more people use DVRs I suspect they will find a way to force us to watch advertising for other products using a method like that.

7. Turn down the volume. I am sick and tired of having to turn down the volume
every time the tv goes to commercial.

13. Take a lesson from Europe.......
...loosen up and actually make an effort to make the commercials entertaining rather than the boring, dumbass, you're all idiots that need simplistic bullshit to understand the value and advantages of a particuar product. Make them entertaining. Watch some European commercials. They're entertaining, humorous, and most times make you laugh rather than cry as US ads do, and do not insult the intelligence of the viewer. I'm not religious, but as an expression, "Thank God for the DVR". Thanks.
