Beloved Yogi has crossed the Rainbow Bridge
We took Yogi for her last car ride today - I know putting her out of pain was the right thing to do, but dammit it's so hard. For nearly 14 years she loved us and was much loved by our family and all of 'her people' have a hole in our hearts today.

All of you wonderful DU goggie owners, hug your hounds tight - they're good for your soul and your heart will break when they're gone.

1. Thinking of you
yes, it is so hard.....

no love like our furry babies' love.

We are with you, sending our vibes.

2. RIP, Yogi...
It just isn't fair that our pets don't live as long as we do.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

4. Sorry for your loss
I saw a bumper sticker on a truck the other day.
"I wish I could be half the man my dog thinks I am."

5. Hugs to abbeyco family...
These wonder creatures stay in our hearts, forever. How lucky you all were
to be with her and she with you all.

From what I hear, that side of the Rainbow Bridge is as welcoming and loving like she remembers.

6. Oh, I'm so sorry
It's such a difficult thing to deal with, even when we know it's best for the pet. You will miss her, and I send vibes for your pain, and your family's. Take care.

8. I'm so sorry. I know exactly how you feel.
Hang in there. Like you said in one of my threads, it's a tough week for DU doggies in Colorado.

It hurts terribly, but I'm comforted by the idea that when my Jake crosses the rainbow bridge in a few days, he'll be free from weakness. He'll be young and healthy again, and he'll have lots of other doggie friends to play with - including Yogi. :)

I'm so, so sorry for your loss. You're absolutely right - good for the soul, but they'll break your heart too. All part of loving them like a member of the family I suppose. At least we had our doggies brighten our lives for a little while, even though it's never, ever long enough.

Hang in there.

24. Thank you
Our lives are immensely better for having had dogs in our lives, our Yogi and your beloved Jake. I will keep good thoughts for when you take Jake for his last ride - my heart is better this morning but the house will never be the same; I suspect you'll feel the same.

Best wishes.

Grieve not,
nor speak of me with tears,
but laugh and talk of me
as if I were beside you.....
I loved you so --
'twas Heaven here with you.

11. I'm sorry for your loss...
it doesn't seem fair that by loving them and not letting them suffer causes us so much pain. Peace vibes to you and yours.

12. I shall think of Yogi tonight, the definition of a lucky dog.
So many have passed through my life at this point, and I regret none of them. They were all loved.

The Beebs passed over last November.

Thanks for sharing, and all the best.

13. I feel your pain, and my heart goes out to you for your loss.
I had to put my beloved Rottweiler down last July. She was just 2 weeks short of her 13th birthday. But she had liver and bone cancer, and the pain meds were not working any longer. It broke my heart, as it was as if I were losing a child. She was my best friend. I know how hard it was for you to let your Yogi go, but I know she probably went peacefully and is no longer in any pain. I just wish there was a Rainbow Bridge where I could be greeted by all my other beloved deceased pets.

25. Thank you all for your kind thoughts and words
The sun rose today as I knew it would, most of the tears have dried, and I'm thankful for all the wonderful DUers out there who were kind enough to leave a message.

Yogi's ashes will be spread at Rocky Mtn National Park where she enjoyed playing 'big bear in the woods' during camping trips; a fitting place for her final resting spot.

Thanks, DUers.
