Please tell me why I shouldn't buy an Ipad
I want to organize my life better and thought I'd use a notepad - I like the idea that it's thin enough to carry everyday and yet large enough that I could actually type or right into it.

I do have the money but I know it's not money well spent.

Talk me out of it Pul-lease

BTW only thinking of getting a 16g Wi-Fi

1. It's great for travel
Edited on Tue Apr-12-11 11:52 AM by Lydia Leftcoast
That's why I bought it.

All my music and TV shows (I don't have cable, so I rely on word of mouth to decide which ones to download) on one large screen, and the Kindle app looks fantastic on it. There are even mini-apps for word processing (Pages) and spreadsheets (Numbers). Then there's e-mail and web surfing, too.

I got the 64-GB model.

It will make those long plane and train trips go faster.

2. Poking at an electric gizmo isn't going to organize your life.
An actual notebook would be just as effective and would only cost about $2.

10. Have you tried typing on one?
Beyond very short messages, typing would drive me nuts. I would be (was) happier with Palm's Graffiti. Also, it's too big to have with me at all times. For a true notepad replacement I would seriously look at some sort of PDA, an iPod Touch or perhaps a smart phone. If I was going to carry something that large around I would look at a netbook which at least provides a real keyboard.

11. massively overpriced, like all Apple stuff.
You can get competing brands that do the same thing for half the price.

12. There's some buzz about display problems with the iPad 2.
Something about light around the edges, I'm not sure. Before you shell out the $$$$, do a little research and make sure it's what you want.

14. Apple should at least support Flash at the level they did through Quicktime early on

without Flash, you'll constantly be stumbling onto pages without helpful content

endless frustration awaits!

15. I wouldn't spend $500-$800+ for it. It looks slick and a touchpad might be fun,
but, really, what are you buying? You don't get more than 64 gb storage at the top end, the cpu is only 1 ghz (slower than the atom processor), you'll pay for most apps, and if you want att or verizon the rates are rather high, so you're just looking at on-going costs for having a slick-looking touchpad

What's the real upside? For $500-$800+, you could buy two or three Acer Aspire Ones: you could put one in your car, one in your kitchen, and maybe one in your drawer at work for lunchtime. For $800, you could could build yourself a nice fast machine

The thing's an over-priced gimmicky gadget

17. Why, I have a 16g Wi-Fi!
I watch Netflix on it. I stream international radio. I read tons of books. I use it for presentations at work. My quality of life without it would be significantly diminished.

On the downside - there is no downside.

Yeah. You should definitely not get one.

18. IPads are a solution looking for a problem.
I played with a new IPad2 last weekend. The novelty wore off after about 2 hours.

The screen is too small, it's too hard to type, and it's too heavy to hold up for long periods.

Maybe in 2 years there will be something better. By then an IPad will look like one of the first cell phones.

In my town, you have to drive at least two blocks in any direction to find one.

23. Yeap. And they all have to climb into their SUV's to get their. During the winter
they have to let the car warm up for at least 10 minutes before they drive those two blocks.

:wtf:
