Man arrested in theft of 400-pound brass ship propeller

JACKSON COUNTY -- An Ocean Springs man caused thousands of dollars in damage to a newly paved road in Latimer by dragging a stolen propeller to a scrap yard, Sheriff Mike Byrd said.

Byrd said Chad Norman Hickson, 23, is accused of stealing a 400-pound brass ship propeller Friday from the yard of a residence on Tucker Road.

“It was too heavy for him to pick up,” Byrd said, “so he tied it to the back of his vehicle and dragged it down Tucker Road to Owens Scrap Metal.”

2. You can teach a chimpanzee how to use a lever.
But a chimpanzee wouldn't need one.

3. I once reviewed a pair of 400 lb High End home loudspeakers,
and that's 400 lbs EACH. (They were moved in to my basement by professional piano movers at the manufacturer's expense) A friend asked me if I was worried that they might be stolen. Nope, I said. If the don't manage to skewer their feet with the steel spikes (located at each bottom corner of the cabinet) and they can get them UP THE STAIRS and OUT THE DOOR, they can have them, because they will have EARNED them....
