So many companies say regulation makes it harder for them to compete, and makes there business model tougher.
It is suppose to be that way, it is like a progressive tax to avoid consolidations that unbalance the system.
Big companies are suppose to fail and be broken up to maintain competition and inovation.
Regulation should effect any big company, or any person with a consolidated asset in a way that makes them less competitive till they get smaller, while small businesses, real small business not fronts for big companies, get advantage to be able to innovate and compete against the factors of advantage of scale that bigger companies can use.
The whole question is what is important, the success of some big corporation, or the success of society.
Because the merged corporate, and monopolies system, either by agreement of what to say and do, or even more economic factors like how to do business or who to do business with, is a problem.
But those in those position like that situation, and people hear the anti regulation rants from people that want the freedom to dominate, not the challenge to compete.
I heard Ron Paul say that no regulation is freedom, of coarse it is, but so is no laws, how can people not understand the most basic of concepts. I think he really believes people should dominate if they can, and not create a field that allows for competition and many smaller business instead of race to the bottom.
Wall mart is a scourge, because they are consolidated enough to control many political and economic factors, from that they don't do business, they dictate what should be done.
I do agree that corrupt government that does not serve the role of helping the little guy is a problem, but you don't solve that problem by getting rid of its role as an advocate for people, you separate it from the money factors that are corrupting it, by giving it the power to regulate those entities, if it is acting based on the best effects for most people, with protection for basic rights of all people.
It is so simple to see, the only argument against any of that is, self interest only thought.
On a tv show, 'Destiny' a character said that it was wrong not to fear, that fear keeps you alive, and people around you alive.
The thing is, his comment is not wrong, it is a different view of motive, his motive is survival by self interest, always doing what has the best results, as governed by 'fear' warning of some hardship.
Fear should be an indicator to think on something, but if what you choose to do is what you think is best by thought and feeling, fear of some outcome should not stop you. In that movie scene, what was important is first himself.
If you fear harm, does that make your decision? What if you fear loss of planet by ecology disaster? Would the fear guide you? No the fear tells you to think and feel about what to do, but then you do the same thing you would do with or without fear, not because there is or isn't risk, but because it is your best decision on what you should do. Fear is there to tell you to think about it, not to tell you to run away. It should not tell you to give in, it should tell you to put some extra thought into the topic, then still do what is best, not what is least fearful. Fear should not be a component of decision.
300 / HIM - Don't Fear the Reaper
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZH3h70aRFxQThis song has a line in it, although it might have been changed, or recently unlocked. "Defeated by Happiness" One way to see that is some types of people that let joy, or an easier path, let them take some path of least resistance and not what they think is best. (note they as pronoun does not point to that group in that way of seeing that song)
How easy it is to be defeated by the enticements of an easy life.
While if you do what you think is best, even if it is harder, it makes it easier to understand the Brave heart speech, or Henry V speech, where those that stood, get to carry that feeling and victory for as long as they exist, but any material reward is just something you have that is fleeting.
A battle won regardless of personal cost is a treasure you never lose as long as you think and feel, anything you receive while not doing what you think is best, will lose its luster quickly. Also why many have cognitive dissonance if they can not accept that they skipped over many things they thought they could do better in there life, and the sadness that goes with that.
But anyways, this is a great vid and song.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZH3h70aRFxQSide note, that does not say don't compromise, or don't negotiate. Both of those can be winning battles, or ways to make things work out, it says think about it, feel about it, and do what you think is best, not something that scares you least.
Fear is a projection of a possible future event. Most of the time having very little to do with what actually unfolds after some choice, but those that always let fear guide them don't always know that. And yes sometimes bad things happen, but they would have anyways if you support those that do those things, if not to you, to someone else.
But anyways, I like that video and there is some good stuff in it, if you get by the blockers that some think make it only bad in some way.
