I need a hug

I am 1000 miles from home (NJ) right now on a work assignment in WI. I got a call last night saying that my beloved Tabby is taking his final trip to the vet tomorrow. I'd been mentally preparing myself for this moment, but it is killing me that I can't be around to say goodbye to him. He was there for me since 8th grade.

I bet the vet would be happy to have a phone hookup right at the time of the deed, too, so the OP can feel like she's right there with her kitty sending him on his way, and kitty would know she was there as well. I would definitely talk to the vet about doing that if the "last appointment" is at a time when the OP can do a phone call. I bet it's been done a lot before by other people.
