Have a job interview tomorrow...
...for a contract position that would run through Sept. 1. I admit it -- I'm nervous -- fighting self-doubt, anxiety, you name it. It's been so long since I've been on an honest-to-God job interview. I'm only now getting back into the job hunt. I'm gunshy. I don't want to fail.

I also had a phone screening interview for another job on Friday, too, which I should hear back from in a week or so as to whether I made it through the first (of probably many) hoops.

Trying not to overthink things, trying to just enjoy the day today and let tomorrow take care of itself. But I sure can use some of those patented, positive Lounge vibes. :hi:

1. Get good and drunk tonight so you'll look and feel your best.
With apologies to Arlo Guthrie.

6. "This or something better"
Sales guru Zig Ziglar is famous for his books, tapes and talks on goal setting.

What he encourages people to do is write out their goals, and at the end of the page, write "This or something better."

If this job is what's best for you, than I want to see you get this job.

If you can get yourself into a mindset of "if this is what's best for me, if I'm the right person for the job, I will communicate it and the employer will receive it and I will be hired," then you free yourself from the doubt and anxiety.

There is a point in every job interview where you decide that you can or cannot do the job.

And once you communicate...via your body language, your tone of voice, your self-confidence bordering on arrogance, that you CAN and WILL exceed the employer's expectations, you'll see it on their face.

That's the time when you sit back and let them court you.

Because once they are convinced that you are the right person, they will crawl through hell and back to make sure you don't get away.

You say "I don't want to fail."

I will share what a former boss (and good friend to this very day) told me once.

He runs marathon races. Always finishes, never gets first or second or third...

...someone asked him why he kept doing it if he never won.

He said "I beat all of the people who stayed home."

You aren't staying home. You're facing your fears and anxieties head-on and you are going to this interview and you wil take DU's vibes with you and if it is the RIGHT job for YOU, you will be posting "I got the job."

Count on it.

:patriot:

9. Thanks SO much for this.

I read it again just before I left this morning.

It went well. I met with the recruiter and her boss, and things were very pleasant. I should know soon if I will be referred to their client for this position.

:hi:

ON EDIT: Where are my manners??? Thanks to ALL for your vibes. I'm positive they helped.

7. vibes to you. And think about it like you are interviewing them at the same time. Cause
you don't want a job with assholes, or disorganized people. Are they nice? Professional? Do they ask good questions? Do you think you'd be a fit with them?... why?...then tell them why.
