Lady Gaga's Ears Are Broken
Posted Wed Apr 20, 2011 7:19am PDT by Caryn Ganz in Amplifier

Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" sounds like Madonna's "Express Yourself." The Amp hears it. Fans hear it. Evidently Madonna hears it. But Lady Gaga... not so much.

"I am not stupid enough to put out a record and be that moronic," Gaga told the NME (via the Prophet Blog) at the top of a rant that began with denial then quickly transformed into rage, indignation, devastation, and religious pandering. It's her very own version of the Five Stages of Grief! We've helpfully diagrammed the conversation below:

Denial:
"No. Listen to me. Why the ...? I'm a songwriter. I've written loads of music. Why would I try to put out a song and think I'm getting one over on everybody? That's retarded."

1. "I've written loads of music."
At least she admits most of her music is a load.

And don't even get me started on the lame new cover art. I can think of at least a half dozen prioer works she ripped for that one.

5. Classy. On behalf of my son, I'd like to flip Lady Gag the bird.
What a talentless, corporate marketing creation she is.

8. Steffi is an attention-grabbing bottom feeder, and that's it.
In many ways, I used to consider Madonna an enormous pain in the ass, and while I liked some of her songs, there were others I couldn't stomach.

But if you took away all of Madonna's redeeming qualities and simply retained the relentless self-promotion and need to shock people in order to elicit a response, you'd have "Lady Gaga."

One day, this too shall pass. Can't hardly wait.

9. She's had her moments of brilliance but for her to defend *that* particular
song that particular way, really says a lot about her.

Great. Of the two Gaga fans I know, one is a disability activist and the other has a developmental disability. :eyes:

11. Nevermind - here is her condescending apology:
"I consider it part of my life's work and music to push the boundaries of love and acceptance. My apologies for not speaking thoughtfully," she said in a statement to Perezhilton.com. "To anyone that was hurt, please know that it was furiously unintentional. An honest mistake requires honesty to make."

She then went on to quote some lyrics from the feel-good dance track: "Whether life's disabilities left you outcast, bullied or teased, rejoice and love yourself today."

12. I like her.
That's an emotional reaction so I don't feel I need to justify it.
