1. Wow, that was fucking terrible.

That performance did not have one redeaming quality. All parts equally shit. It's kind of amazing for its horridness.

2. Jimmy Page wouldn't allow it to be released on the Live Aid DVD set
even he knew it sucked beyond suckage.

Mind you, this is a band that hadn't really performed together let alone talk to each other for 5 years. They really phoned that performance in that day.

3. Also, Collins was all wrong on the drums...
...he's flailing away but he's not playing in the right style for those songs. He was also hopping on and off the Concorde that day, between Wembley and JFK, so that probably didn't help, either.

4. at the time they didn't really have a drummer
I think Plant's tour drummer was also there but he was more of the solo artist Plant drummer, which is a far cry different then Led Zeppelin Plant.
