My next door neighbor installed a privacy wall so the creep behind them couldn't watch their |

daughter and her friends when they're in the pool or sunbathing. The creep contacted the building department to see if my neighbor had a permit. My neighbor did not think one was needed as the wall is on their property and was built by them and friends.
The wall is being taken down under threat of fines for every day it remains in place. They are out of pocket close to $4,000.00.
Chalk one up for the creep.

1. they could create 3 or 4 "moveable wall" type structures on wheels |
|
so that each time the daughter goes out she makes a point of rolling them in place to point out the creepiness of the neighbor and it will help to shame him, especially if he's married.
also, then they're temporary structures so probably no permit required. they would probably just need 3 or 4 to cover the viewable area. Good luck!

Out the 4K already, I doubt they want to spend more to buy some very tall shrubs. Maybe a high tent type structure, inside the yard to create a barrier. We had a rude Gladys Kravitz type neighbor, bought the mature laurels and it worked. Still disgusting.

5. We're lucky in that we have oleanders that shield us. The neighbor doesn't have room for trees |
|
due to the space taken by the pool.

4. Most states have laws that require you have walls around the pools |
|
There has been a long-standing issue of who is responsible should a stranger break into your pool, go swimming and ends up injuring themselves. Many time it's the pool owners who are held accountable even though the injured party was trespassing.
Also, I would suggest your neighbor daughters take photos of when the creep is creeping.

6. There is a wall around the backyard and a fence around the pool. The creep's house is at a higher |
|
elevation allowing him to see over the wall from his second story.
The photo thing is a great idea.

7. How about a clothesline? |
|
Edited on Fri Apr-22-11 12:51 PM by Incitatus
Set up a long clothesline along the back of the yard (just two poles and a long rope) and hang some cheap sheets across it to block his view.
If his viewpoint is at a higher elevation, the line could be placed right behind the pool. That might be enough to block his view.

10. that is a good idea - just like a really long shower curtain |
|
should be pretty cheap to set up as well
50 ft of clothesline 5 white shower curtain liners 2 long poles epoxy to fasten shower curtains together
quick, cheap, temporary, and weatherproof

17. I really like this idea. Not only is it legal, so many people |
|
find clotheslines unsightly (I don't get it, and we use them in my neighborhood). But this whole situation could end up in a major feud with this pervert.

9. The inspector must be a dick, a creep or a friend of the creep. |
|
The neighbor should have been able to pay the permit fee and a small fine, then correct any code violations. I've explained my way out of similar situations without any problems.

if you talk to city people...usually you can fix any code violations and pay a fine...

doing nothing unlawful there were no legal remedies.

14. Two sections of PVC pipe. |
|
Duct tape.
One Bedsheet.
One can of spray paint.
Duct tape the bedsheet to the sections of PVC pipe. Stretch it out, use spray paint to write "Anti-Pervert Screen" or something similar on the bedsheet. Unfurl to block view of pool, roll up and remove when pool isn't in use.

21. After reading DU for the past week or two, |
|
it's become apparent that the creep is perfectly justified in doing his creeping. I mean, if your neighbor's daughter and her friends are going to be out in public, prancing around in their bathing suits, they're just being provocative and they should expect to be ogled. What's that poor creeper supposed to do - ignore them?

23. Not only that, but if they dare complain to the creep |
|
They should fully expect to be assaulted with a sharp object, and it will be entirely their own fault when that happens. The new rule of life: STFU, don't make eye contact, and let the inmates run the asylum without interference, dammit!

22. That is so awful. I once lived in an apartment building that used to have a pool |
|
in the 'courtyard'. The building owner told me there used to be a man watching all the girls from his balcony so the owner got rid of the pool. I would have done the same thing. Yuck!
