I am in a strange phase at the moment
I am very bad at answering friends emails or calling them. When I get home from work all I want is hide and do nothing. I still meet with friend where I live but otherwise ....

I feel bad for neglecting my friends but I can't seem to find the drive to change that.

Any ideas?

1. Force yourself.
I'm right there with you. I'm not even willing to reach out to anyone right now. All I seem to be able to do is respond, and ...... no one's calling.

With me, it all has to do with my big breakup and me wanting to avoid moving forward with the rest of my life. Easier to just sit at home, alone, watching Netflix. If there is anything underlying the way you are feeling, then you should deal with those issues first.

As long as it doesn't become a years-long thing, I wouldn't worry though.

3. I get that way too.
I am still real bad at calling anyone but am better now about calling someone back, although I still do not pick up a ringinging phone very often. Are you depressed? Do you know what the cause is?

What I would advise you to do is what I would tell myself to do but I gave in to coming home and hiding out again yesterday.

That advice is give yourself a small push and take a walk in the fresh air. Your mind starts to see the world differently after that.

And, sometimes we have to have periods of time where we hide out and re-charge. For some of us that is the best thing for us sometimes.

4. Hire an assistant. A social secretary.

Someone to read your email and tell you when there's something worth dealing with.

Some school kid will do it cheap.

Oh, yeah, the after-work energy crash. Hence, the success of television. I don't know what to do about that, except to say: I'm with you. Kick back on the couch, cat on chest. Snoring and purring.
