1. I'm getting used to it, my dear trof...
I haven't had to log into DU...

But I don't log out...

I do wish they'd stop "improving" it, though...

:hi:

2. There is a cookies file that is corrupt.
Can you find one that has zero size? If so, you can delete it.

3. Really?
Check your privacy settings. If you're set to delete cookies on exiting Firefox, then yes, you'll have to log in again. If not deleting cookies, you should be OK.

Go to "Tools / Options / Privacy, then "Settings"

9. I don't know what I did wrong when I upgraded but the Firefox icons are ll gray and ugly.
I think I hosed it up when I forced it to include the Reload and Stop buttons. It works, it's just ugly as sin.

13. Did it lose your preferences? I have my background colors and font, etc. established.
If you want some color, you could pick out one of their skins. It should have given you that option. I kept mine gray on purpose.

I've been lazy about checking it out.

Is gray the default?

19. Yeah, I think it is. I prefer it because my folder and document margins are gray.
I tried out a couple of skins and didn't like it because the colors obscured my toolbar icons, made them harder to see. I set my background color on Firefox and text for less eye strain.

I don't have a white background as it appears most people do when they look at a webpage. They all have to conform to my color, text size and font as I set up my preferences to override them.

Experiment with your preferences and see what you get, I think you will be pleased with the results. Firefox has a huge library of skins to replace that gray that's bugging you. I empathize with you about the aggravation different page styles can cause.

12. Are you running OSX? They keep trying to get me to upgrade, but I keep refusing.
As far as DU, do you check that 'stay signed in' option? Right now I only have to sign back in after I quit Firefox completely, not just close the browser window.

It's okay, but I have used FireFox previously. Seems to have more options and quicker browsing with Chrome.

20. I like it. My problems have been with some of the add-ons
I think it's Xmarks, specifically. I keep getting error messages that the script from this add-on is what hangs the thing up. But, ver. 4.0 generally boots up faster than the previous version. The previous one used to hang during the start-up. It was a royal pain in the ass to get it going on some days. I just wish they'd upgrade the eQuake alerts add-on, which is not compatible with ver. 4.0.

26. I miss the mini-history dropdown menu.
Where you can see the last 5 or 10 pages you visited for any particular tab.

It is very quick, though. Hell, it's quick on MY machine, and mine is 7 years old!

29. There used to be one next to the "Back" button
Now it's not there anymore. And clicking the "History" menu at the top shows the last few pages you went to... but it's the cumulative history of the browser window, not the specific tab.

:-(

30. Major bummer! Does it still let you repeat on the back button to get to previous history?
And does it allow you to keep color and font styles and sizes? That would be a major turn-off for me, like going back to Safari.

I guess the History toolbar *above* the window is still an option? Half the time I go up there to restore closed tabs and windows.

Perhaps for some that have upgraded, if they saved the .dmg in their applications folder, they could drag 4.0 to the trash and reinstall 3.4, 3.5 or 3.6. I'm running 3.6 and only had to re-install a few add-ons.

Actually found better ones to replace those the codex wouldn't work with anymore. And I don't think it has anything to do with Firefox, but I've been getting slower downloading time on videos and more error pages but it may be Comcast.

I'll put off upgrading this thing as long as I can, I hate fiddling with this stuff all the time. It seems like they come out with something every couple of months. And now Yahoo is saying if I don't upgrade in a month or so, they'll do it anyway. So I have to figure that out.

Good luck anyone with this. It's awful taking the chance of losing your bookmarks, etc. I've never changed anything on Firefox that i can't change back by un-installing and starting again.

31. I missed that too
And hunted through the addons to find the Backward/Forward History Drop Down, which adds the same function. Now I wish the Search box still had its drown down, too. I may have to find an addon for it.

27. I miss the ctrl-e shortcut to get to the search window
I'm not sure why they took it off. I used it all the time. I can use ctrl-k, but that's not as easy on my primary computer as ctrl-e.

Aside from that, I don't have any major complaints yet :) ...

Which is rapidly becoming all of them. I just like having the familiar menu bar and icons.
